Steele doesn’t see the conflicting feelings in Easton’s mind because he poked a sore spot. Of course, he is worried about getting Wren out and keeping her safe for the foreseeable future, but he just needs to have that chance to at least try.
The small chance is still so much better than it all ending now. Maybe they were never meant to step foot out of the genesis pack and maybe they will be living on borrowed time. Maybe each minute from now on will be a blessing, but Steele is determined to make it work.
