Chapter 24
Elian followed the sounds of happy laughter as he took the stairs two at a time in the direction of the main floor and the kitchen. He could hear Mary scolding the boys for something as they cackled with glee at whatever their antics were. He poked his head through the kitchen door and saw Mary standing with her hands on her hips, scowling, but both boys holding their sides and laughing uproariously.
“I’m almost afraid to ask,” he spoke breaking into the hilarity of the room.
“Elian,” the boys yelled in unison.
“We got Mom with our science experiment. Wanna see?” Jerome asked excitedly.
“No,” Mary cut him off. “Nobody wants to see that.”
