Chapter 19: The Doll in the Glass
I woke up floating in a haze of chemical cotton.
My limbs felt heavy and disconnected from my body. I tried to lift my hand but it fell back onto the soft mattress with a dull thud. The sedative Kaelen had injected into my thigh was strong. It had stripped away my panic and replaced it with a terrifying numbness.
I blinked my eyes open.
