[Bailey] Before we left in the van for a location far enough to obscure the route back to my clan, but near enough to arrive before nightfall, Livy and Clara pulled me aside. They looked grim, and I worried something had gone wrong. Joey was in the office they took me to. She looked unwell. “What’s going on?” I asked as Clara locked the door and Livy started dialing the phone. “You need to sit down,” Clara said. “Livy’s getting Keaton on the phone.” “Why? What happened?” I pressed. Livy put Keaton on speakerphone and set her phone down on the coffee table. She sat next to Joey and held her hand. Joey seemed to relax a bit.
