“Yes. And she’s been working in the pack preschool. They would tear me apart if they knew I let a Damson….”
“Is there any way to not tell them? Mari would never hurt a child. She loves kids. She even….” I didn’t know if I should tell them Mari’s darkest secret, but I didn’t want her to lose the job she probably loved with all her heart. “Mari didn’t just save werewolves when she was forced to go on raids. She killed hunters.”
Now I had everyone’s attention. We had some really terrible clan members, and they weren’t great losses, at least not to Mari and me. I wished I could have done it, too, but I wasn’t in a position for that to work out.
