[Bailey] When Ian and Keaton left, I could see a flash of concern in Ian’s eyes. It was the first time in a long time that someone looked at me as if they were worried when I was going into a dangerous situation. If things went wrong, it would lead to fewer problems for Ian. He didn’t want me for a mate, anyway. The front door closed, leaving me with Gino. A thrill ran through me as I finally found myself alone with my family’s killer. Truly alone. There was no one to save either of us. I selected a book from a nearby shelf and sat on the couch to read. The cabin sort of reminded me of my great-grandfather’s cabin in the mountains.
