I felt this sense of dread rising with each minute that passed. Why was it taking so long? What could he be doing?
Ten minutes came and went.
The only sound I could hear was the floorboards squeaking beneath my feet as I paced the room back and forth impatiently.
Was this room mostly soundproof or something? I couldn't even hear any noise coming from the guard just on the other side of the door.
