Should I believe him? I'm not sure if I can. It is clear he has ulterior motives in helping us; I don't think he is doing this out of the kindness of his heart.
Matías leaned back against the lumpy pillow, his expression unreadable. "I'm not lying to you if that is what you are thinking."
I rolled my eyes. "That's the first thing a traitor would say."
"I know, but if I tell you the reason why I'm helping you, you won't believe me."
"And with that, we are going to trust him even less," Azrael grumbled.
He was not wrong; he just admitted he had another motive to be on our side, but if he didn't tell me what the freaking motive was, I was going to lose my patience.
"If you don't tell me the reason, I'll kill you."
"To survive," he said.
