Hands that had once pulled her from the brink of death and grief. Hands that had once been…selfish. “I didn’t love her… when I married her,” I said quietly to the two… surprising even myself with the confession. “I… used her. I knew she was broken, and I made her part of my revenge. That…that wasn’t love.” Silence followed. Aric and Jaxon didn’t interrupt, didn’t try to offer empty comfort. And I was grateful for that. “But then… she cried in my arms. She was in sorrow. She had been threatened and hunted. The same people we hated—they kept coming for her. And for unknown reason, something in me snapped.” I swallowed hard, my throat tight.
