SELENE’S POV The argument didn’t end, it felt like it kept going and the reason why I felt like this is because everything that Dante had said to me kept replaying in my head. And each time I thought about what he had said to me I got mad Even after Dante’s voice stopped echoing off the stone walls, even after his footsteps faded down the corridor, the words he hurled at me stayed behind lodged in my chest like splinters I couldn’t pull out. You’re a liability. You’re endangering my pack. You let something into our bond. I stood alone in the room that was supposed to be ours, my hands shaking at my sides, my throat burning with everything I hadn’t said. The fire in his eyes had been unmistakable anger sharpened by something colder. Distrust. Accusation. Possession without tenderness.
