CYRILLA'S POV I woke up feeling unexpectedly better. The searing pain from the day before had dulled to a faint, almost imperceptible ache. It was odd, especially considering Dr. Pierce’s warning: healing could take several days, even weeks, for the tissues and ligaments to properly recover. And after that, a long stretch of therapy before I regained full strength in my shoulder. Yet, here I was, barely feeling the ache. It didn’t seem like it would hurt much if I moved it, though I kept the sling on, just to be safe. Maybe I was healing faster than expected, or perhaps my body had simply adjusted to the pain.
