My heart sinks as reality sets in. We are under attack right as my daughter enters the world. I look at Eddie, who nods before running out of the room. “Mom, Mindy, get everyone into the safe rooms.” I look down at Samantha holding our daughter. “I love you,” I say and kiss her. “Keep our pups safe.”
“I want to go,” Samantha complains.
“No,” I say firmly and look at Kade. “Stay with Mommy and little sister,” I tell him. “Keep them safe.” I take one last look at my family before leaving the hospital room. “Get into the safe rooms,” I roar as I run down the hallway.
I get outside and listen to the chaos around me as warriors run by to join the fight. I let loose a dominating alpha howl while shifting and running after the warriors.
