“We are almost there, Alpha,” the driver tells Holden.
We are sitting in a royal vehicle, returning to Eagle Creek. Kade is sleeping between Holden and me. The closer we get to home, the more anxious I get.
Holden had told me that the packhouse and other buildings had been destroyed. Pack members, including Laila, had died. My heart aches for them. I know there is going to be a lot of anger as well. I am preparing myself to handle all of it.
“It’s okay,” Holden touches my arm.
