(Kendall) I sat beside him, my head on his shoulder, feeling the rise and fall of his breathing. He wasn’t saying much anymore. I thought he’d laugh it off after what I did, but he didn’t. He just sat there, quiet. I peeked up at him. His face was blank. No smile. No glare. Just nothing. And that made me feel like s**t. “I was just messing with you,” I said again, softer this time.
