I didn’t even hang up properly. Just threw the phone on the seat next to me and floored it.
My heart was pounding too fast, too loud. I could barely think straight.

I saw red the second she said his name.
That sick feeling I got when she first told me what he did to her came back ten times worse. This wasn’t just some memory or a story she told me. This was now. This was real. He showed up at her house like he had the right.
