Chapter 20
Parker’s POV
I was happily on my own for the first five days. The deputies who came out to check on me were all polite and helpful. I decided that I needed to get out and check out the town. See what kind of new stores they have and find the grocery store. I needed some interaction and thought that a quick trip into town would help. I texted Colton to tell him that I would not be home for the morning check-in and where I planned to go. I didn’t know when the deputy would be here this morning, and I didn’t want to alarm them if I didn’t come to the door.
I think I would like to find a new book to read. Maybe a romance, or some light reading. The thrillers and mysteries I brought with me were fine, at first. But I’ve been more anxious, especially at night, worried about Nolan.
