Beth Shattered. That’s how I felt when I came down from Rafe’s Christmas Day massage. I felt like my whole person, body, soul and spirit had shattered like glass into a million tiny shards, and I was bleeding out in Raphael’s arms. He held me tenderly and rested his head on my breast. Strange that I could feel so broken, and yet feel so content to die in his arms. I felt like I had just lost, not only the battle, but the whole war. But somehow, there was peace in defeat. There was relief in not fighting any more. I felt like I’d been fighting for so long, that surrender felt like heaven.
