Chapter 13: Airplane

“DRINK this first,” BK said as he approached and handed her a glass of water. They were at the police station at that moment for the investigation. She was trembling as she gave her statement because of the incident. She didn’t even know why it happened to her. She didn’t even know the man. Paul said he was Norwegian. He was with them because BK called him while they were on their way to the police station. “Will this take long? I want to rest already,” she told her husband. They left Paul to speak with the authorities. Her husband simply told her that Paul would handle everything. It seemed other people might get involved because she had no idea what was going on. She even mentioned to the police earlier that she was looking for her father since that was the real reason she came here. The officer even raised a brow when he repeated the surname she gave. “Let’s wait for Paul, okay? For now, just close your eyes so you can rest,” he said, tapping her shoulder. She followed her husband without thinking. Soon, she felt his arms wrap around her. She didn’t realize she had fallen asleep on her husband’s shoulder until he spoke and gently woke her up—they were heading home. He said they could talk about what happened at the hotel later and that Paul had gone ahead earlier because he was on a call. Their ride didn’t take long, since traffic wasn’t a problem in this place. “Was I really the one he meant to shoot?” she asked her husband after he sat across from Paul when they got to their hotel. Most of BK’s friends were already there when they arrived. Her lips slightly parted when BK nodded. “B-But why? I didn’t do anything wrong to him. I don’t even know the guy!” she said in confusion. “Yes, you really didn’t know him, Miss Frost—” “Mrs. Hernandez,” BK corrected Paul. Paul looked at BK with a puzzled expression. “O-okay, Mrs. Hernandez. Happy now, Sir?” he teased BK but quickly turned serious when he looked at her again. “You really have no idea who he is? He knew you because they saw your photo on the suspect’s phone.” She shook her head at Paul. “I really don’t.” She heard him let out a sigh. Silence briefly settled over the group. “What about Max? Do you know him? Why’d you let him hug you?” She froze. She looked at her husband. “I met him in Hawaii. Didn’t you meet him, too? I was just really shocked at that moment. And he was the only familiar face I saw, so I hugged him. I was so scared.” “Yeah. But I didn’t like him even back then. What’s he doing here anyway?” her husband said, slightly annoyed. “Business trip, I think. That’s what he told me.” “Business trip or was he following you?” She glanced at BK’s friend Rixi when she suddenly threw something at BK. Her husband caught it easily. “Watch how you talk to your wife. I’m this close to winning your island, Blake Kent II,” Rixi said with a laugh as she caught what BK tossed back. Although she was puzzled by BK’s friend’s comment, she brushed it aside because of the incident. She couldn’t sit still at that moment. Her mind wandered. The friends were busy teasing each other. She couldn’t relate. Who was Max, anyway? She hadn’t even asked for his full name. What if he had something to do with the earlier incident? But that’s impossible—he helped her, didn’t he? And he seemed nice. The thought made her feel sad. Daphne didn’t expect Paul to be serious when he said they’d leave Bergen that night and return to the Philippines. He barely joined his friends because of what happened. He seemed very worried, probably because they were foreigners here. She thought about it earlier. Among all their friends, he always seemed to be the most serious. She didn’t clearly understand what happened either. Why would someone try to kill her? Who even was she? She hadn’t made any enemies in the three weeks she’d been in Bergen. She was almost in awe of Paul’s private jet. Turns out they were extremely rich. She even saw the pilot salute him. He was just as good-looking as her husband. BK’s friends went quiet after two hours of chatting on the plane. She couldn’t relate earlier so she just stayed in her seat. She glanced at them after a while because of the silence. It felt odd. They were watching something; that’s why they were serious. Someone was speaking but she couldn’t hear it. Then she realized there was a glass partition. It was transparent. It looked like a conference room. BK and Rixi were seriously listening to Paul while he talked. The others were on their phones doing something. She just dozed off on them. She was really exhausted from all the walking she and her husband did, plus what had just happened. The stress had gotten to her. She woke up when she felt a gentle kiss on her lips. Her husband’s face greeted her, smiling. “B-BK!” Her eyes widened when his hand suddenly landed on her thigh. It crept toward the space between her legs, making her hold her breath. She was wearing pants at the time, but she could feel the warmth of BK’s hand. She gasped when her husband suddenly pulled her close and kissed her hard. At the same time, he squeezed her thigh. He teasingly tugged at her lower lip before kissing her again, more intensely this time as she responded. He was about to unzip her pants when she stopped him. “W-We can’t, BK,” she said, biting her lip. “Don’t worry, they won’t see us,” her husband whispered. He pressed a button at the side. The curtain beside them closed. “B-BK,” she said. He touched her lips and gave them a light pinch. “Just once, baby. I can’t sleep,” he said with a smile. “So I’m your sleeping pill now? Just because I agreed before doesn’t mean you can take advantage of me,” she said quietly. “I just can’t help myself.” He looked at her. “Truth is, you’ve been driving me crazy, Daph.” She swallowed at his words. But then she wondered—once he got over his desire, would they go back to how things were? The thought made her sad. “Baby,” he said, making her look at him again. She didn’t know why, but she really liked it when he called her that. His lips were once again close to hers. She parted her lips slightly when she smelled his fragrant breath. “This is embarrassing, BK.” She swallowed again. “They’re worse than me. And they don’t come in when the curtain’s closed. Okay?” he tried to convince her. “Y-You sure?” she asked. “Yes, baby.” Her husband squeezed her thigh, which made her look down, and so did he. She held her breath when his hand moved between her legs. She saw his Adam’s apple bob as his fingers traced their way to her zipper, then to her button. He quickly unbuttoned the single clasp. As he slid down her zipper, he kissed her deeply again—and she kissed him back. She gasped into his mouth when she felt his fingers touch her sensitive area. She pulled away from his lips when he started to play with it. “Good God!” she said, gripping his arm. He sped up his movements. She bit her lip at the sensation he was giving her down there. “Moan, baby. Moan,” he told her, but she couldn’t. “Uhmmm,” she said, clutching his arm tighter. It was like her husband was taking her to another dimension at that moment. She even parted her thighs a bit to give him better access. She could already feel how wet she was. She looked at BK when he stopped. “Let’s go,” he whispered as he stood up. She felt shy. But then he suddenly pulled her from her seat. He moved the curtain aside and led her to the women’s bathroom. “BK!” she exclaimed when he suddenly pinned her to the door and quickly stripped both of them. BK eagerly claimed her lips while lifting her onto the sink counter…
