“DO YOU WANT me to buy you anything from town?” her mother asked as she came closer.
“Nothing, Ma. I already bought everything yesterday.”
“Is that so? Alright, I’m leaving now. There’s food over there. Just eat if you get hungry.”
She nodded at her mother. Later, she walked her to their gate.
Her mom said she’d go grocery shopping because they were out of a few essentials. But really, the list wasn’t that long. Actually, she could’ve bought them from the next house where there’s a small store, but the goods there are more expensive. Maybe her mom had another reason for going. She was supposed to do the shopping yesterday, but her mother insisted she shouldn’t, afraid it might harm the baby in her womb.
