Enrico’s refusal only ignited the fire in Esmeralda’s chest. She clenched her trembling fists, wiping her tears with the back of her hand as she struggled to regain composure. “You don’t understand,” she said, her voice wavering but determined. “This isn’t just about Isabella. This is about everything, about what Diego has done to me, to us, to her. He’s destroyed so much, Enrico. I can’t sit back and do nothing.”
Enrico scoffed, pacing the room like a caged predator. “And what do you think you’ll accomplish, Esmeralda? You’ve already proven that you’re a liability. You’re in no state to face him again.”
