Kendrick sped down Cebu’s main road, heading for the newly opened Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, which connects Cebu Province to Lapu-Lapu City, preferably in Mactan, their destination.
Samantha’s attention was drawn to the outside of the car as she considered how to approach Kendrick. She was a little squiffy, but her mind was clear enough to consider whether or not she should say anything to Kendrick later.
“Sam?” Kendrick drew her attention after he cleared his throat.
Samantha swallowed before she turned to face in front but didn’t respond.
“Are you okay?” Kendrick asked.
Samantha cleared her throat. “Uhm, yeah, I’m fine,” she answered.
“Have you heard about the newly inaugurated bridge?” Kendrick started the conversation after a series of silence.
“I saw it from the news,”
