Chapter 27

1110 Words

~CARTER~ I'd never been more worried in my f*****g life than this morning when I woke up in my backyard with no memory of last night or how I'd escaped the room. I'd managed to break free from all of the chains. It's never happened in the past. Every time I would wake up in that room and with bruises on my body. This time, there were even more than usual. It was a clear sign that I had been wandering around during the night. The thought made me feel nauseous. Who did I f**k? Did I hurt anyone? At first, I was terrified I had gone straight to Scarlett the second I'd broken free. I was pacing all morning, waiting for her to show up. I was even tempted to drive to her house and check for her myself. Seeing that there was no trace of fear in her eyes this morning was a relief for me.
