chapter 8

Rose's p.o.v

I watch in horror as Jack walks into the bakery, yelling, not even making sense. The only thing I did understand was that he kept yelling that he wants and needs his son Nico, but everything else was a mix between curse words and mumbo jumbo. Before he walked in, 2 guys walked in, very handsome and tall. I have never seen them here before and the one day two hotties walk in here, my baby daddy decides to show his face, drunk off his aśś.

I wait for him to get it all out of his system and expect him to walk back out, but he doesn't do that, no, instead he rushes over to where Lily and Nico are sitting down enjoying muffins and hot cocoa. He tries to grab Nico out of the high chair and Lily tries to stop him, but he shoves her. I see red. He did not just put his hands on my little sister. "I'm sorry, excuse me." I tell the next customer and I rush towards Jack, but before I can even get there, one of the guys from earlier has Jack pinned to the wall and the other one is asking Lily if she is okay and he is holding Nico. Lily is shaking and looks like she is also blushing. "Oh my god sister, are you okay?" I ask Lily. "I'm fine Rose." she tells me. "No you aren't Lily, he pushed you." I tell her, trying to check her over. "Lily" we hear the stranger repeat. We both look up at him. "Here's your kid." He tells my sister who shakes her head. "He's my son." I tell the guy who can't keep his eyes off my sister. I grab Nico who is now crying. This guy who can't take his eyes off my sister looks concerned. I think he likes what he sees. As he should, my sister is beautiful. "She just helps me babysit while she is on vacation so I can work and go to school." I feel the need to explain to him and he nods. "I'm taking the trash out." the other guy says as he drags Jack out. I want to say something to Jack, but he doesn't even look sober, so I won't even bother. Not like he will understand or pay any attention if he is under the influence. He won't be allowed near Nico for a long time after this though. "Thank you guys." I say and walk back to the register after handing Nico back to Lily and leaving her with that tall, handsome man.

Lily's p.o.v

Oh my god, this man's stare is so intense. He won't take his eyes off me. After he pushed Jack away, he rushed over to me and kept asking if I was okay. I could barely even talk so when he assumed that Nico was mine and tried to hand him back to me, I felt relieved that Rose let him know that Nico was her baby. I saw a look of relief on his face, but he never said anything. After calming him down, Rose walked away and I sat Nico back down. I am glad that he is such a good kid. I planned on taking him to the park for a little while after this so I start packing up. The man is still just standing there. His friend walks back in after getting rid of Jack and I look around, the bakery kept on like if nothing ever happened. "Hi, I am Ryan and this idìot here is Brody." the other man says. "Hi, I am Lily." I tell them. "Lily", he repeats my name like he did earlier and just hearing him say my name does something to me. It sounds so sèxy coming out of him. "So Lily, are you okay?" Ryan asks me and I nod. "Yes, thank you for that, he's crazy." I tell them and Ryan chuckles. "Clearly, but why was he trying to get to the kid?" He asks me. "He's my sister's crazy baby daddy. He clearly lost his mind, coming here and embarrassing her like this." I say, shaking my head, still not believing that Jack did this. They invite themselves to our table and sit down with Nico and I are just begin talking. Well Ryan talks, Brody just stares at me and gives short replies or grunts in reply.

Eventually the bakery clears out and Rose comes over to the table. "Hey, here I got you guys some coffee and pastries on the house. Thank you for earlier. Jack has lost his mind. He can't come near Nicolas anymore after that. He isn't stable or sober and I can't have him around my son." she says and we all agree. Hey you girls should get our numbers and if you ever need any help, call us. We wouldn't mind taking a Wilder down." Ryan says and Brody nods. "You guys know his family?" Rose asks and Ryan nods. "The Wilders have a really bad reputation, they have alot of enemies. Maybe it is best you keep this little cutie away from him. Sùcks that he has such a shìtty father." Ryan tells my sister. "I will keep it in mind." Rose says. Not even caring that he insulted Jack. Before she would have defended him, but lately I see the look of defeat on her face when he is brought up in conversations. He broke her heart, but she is strong and is working hard to move on with her life. "Hey I am closing earlier today mom needs us home." Rose tells me and I nod. Her phone rings and she checks it. "It's Candace, I'm going to take this. Lock the door please." she tells me and I go do it. I then put my nephew down. He can run around for a bit while we clean up. Rose returns and we get to work. Ryan puts himself to work and helps clean up while talking to Rose and I. Brody on the other hand plays with Nico and keeps him busy. I take glances at him every so often and he is good with Nico. We finish and step out. Ryan hands Rose a card and me another one. I look at it and it is Brody's information. "Thanks" I say and put it in my pocket. "Well we have to go." Rose says. "Thank you for the fun time. We will definitely be returning. The food and drinks here are the best we have ever tasted." Ryan says. Both Rose and I smile wide. "Yup, all family recipes and you both are welcome to come here anytime. I will make sure to tell our parents about our heros." Rose tells them and for the first time I see Brody crack what looks like a small smile. We wave and get Nico in the car and go home. When we get home I see the card that Ryan gave Rose and it is different than the one he gave me. This one just has his name and number written on it. Brody's looks professionally made. Rose rushes to the back house and I go in through the front door and my parents and Violet are sitting in the living room waiting for everyone to arrive. You can tell that they have all been crying and my heart sinks.

Brody's p.o.v

We get back to the pack house and Liam is still training, like he always is. He refused to go out with us earlier. He would have gotten a kick out of Jack Wilder. We go over to him and tell him the story and I let them know that the girl Lily is my mate. Ryan doesn't look shocked at all. "I saw your wolf come out as soon as Jack pushed her. I already knew." he tells me. "Congrats man." Liam tells me. "Lucky, I can't wait to find my mate. I thought she might be at the bakery. I did get a faint smell of something delicious, but I think it was just the pastries." Ryan says. Liam sniffs me "Yeah whatever is at that bakery does smell good. It lingered on your clothes and my wolf likes it, maybe I do need to go with you two next time and try these desserts out for myself. Maybe I will get lucky and find my mate." Liam says laughing... I know he is laughing, but I also know that he wants a mate. He claims he gave up searching for her, but I know him almost better than anyone and I know he longs to find her. "and your mate's sister, so fùcking hot." Ryan says and I shrug. All I know is that my mate is hot aśś fùck. I didn't even see her sister to be honest. "Just one piece of advice, talk to Lily next time. Don't just stare at her." Ryan tells me and Liam starts laughing at me. We all walk to the pack house together. "So what are you going to do about Sasha?" Ryan asks and I have no doubt that I will be breaking up with her. I just found my mate, I want to celebrate. Ryan gave her my card, I hope she uses it, regardless though I will continue to go see her. I hope she is there tomorrow. I realize how stùpid I am. I should have talked to her and actually gave her my number myself, but I am not someone who likes to talk. This is why I don't associate with many people. Liam and Ryan just get me. I can deal with them, but I don't really like people besides my family, so I tend to do my own thing most of the time. My siblings are okay, my older brother didn't want the Beta position and took off when he turned 18 to travel around the world and my other siblings are your typical annoying siblings, but I love them and my parents are really cool..I take my phone out and text Sasha to meet me in front of the pack house. She replies instantly that she is on her way. "Sasha is on her way. Wish me luck, hopefully she takes the breakup good." I tell them. "This is why I don't get involved with women from the pack. Dad and uncle Wolf taught me that. You guys should have learned." Liam tells us. "Don't tell me, I am waiting for my mate." Ryan says. I see Sasha walking over and I groan. Here goes nothing...

Rose's p.o.v

Our parents call us in for a family meeting. Mom sounded bad on the phone. She didn't even come back to the bakery after my sister's Drs. appointment and that worries me. Mom lives and breathes anything bakery related. She doesn't like missing or leaving early unless absolutely necessary. I tell Lily not to bring up the Jack issue, atleast not for now. I don't want mom to stress even more. Earlier I spoke to Candace who said that she will tell Cody to talk to him. This is all I could do for now. I walk in throught the back door and my family is sitting in the living room. I put Nico down and lock the back door. The front door opens and Luke comes inside with Jasmine. Nico runs over to her. Although she has delays, one thing about my niece is that she always has a smile on her face. I walk over to her and pick her up. "Hi pretty girl. Did you have a good day?" I ask her, but I get no answer. I kiss her cheek and put her down and turn to my family.

We all sit here, not knowing what to say. Mom told us all what happened at Violet's Drs. appointment and how she scheduled Drs appointment for us all to get tested to see if we are a match. "like a heart transplant or a kidney match?" Lily asks.. "I am not exactly sure how it all works, I believe it is like a genetic test. They will explain everything and I will be there for everyone's appointments. Who wants to go first? They have two time slots for tomorrow and one for the following day. I don't think Casey will be able to come." mom says. Dad just looks at her, concern written all over his face. "I can go tomorrow." I tell mom and she nods. "Me too." Lily says. "Okay I will go the day after then." Luke says "What about us?" dad asks. "Can we test?" he asks. "I do not think so. I'm not sure how it all works yet." mom says and begins crying. We all surround her and Violet who looks so scared, pale and fragile.

I go home and begin doing research. Chemotherapy, radiation, hospitalization. Fùck this is something serious. I pray that the testing shows that one of us is a match with her so she can get whatever it is she needs. I hope I can ask questions tomorrow when I go in, because after reading all of this, I have so many. That night I go to sleep and cuddle my baby boy extra hard.
