Runaway

**Amelia's POV** Roman drove us back to the pack house on the four wheeler. It scared me when he was holding me. It felt like home. When we got back, both my parents were waiting on the steps for me. My dad had his arms crossed in front of his chest and his stance screamed alpha. My mom on the other hand was tapping her foot away, and her hands rested on her hips. I've been in trouble before, but I have a feeling I had really done it this time. Roman parked the four wheeler directly in front of the steps, and when I hopped off I saw he made no movement to get off. I looked at him with pleading eyes, begging him not to make me face them alone, but he just shook his head.  I was doomed. I walked up the steps with my head down, and followed my parents into my dads office. My dad pointed at one of the guest chairs and I planted my butt in it. My dad sat in his chair on the other side of his desk, while my mom leaned on the desk facing me.  "EXPLAIN YOURSELF, YOUNG LADY!" My mom yelled at me. My mom hardly ever raised her voice. She never needed to, but I can tell that she is furious.  "I'm sorry, mom. I just needed to getaway from here. I feel like I'm suffocating. I understand that I need to be safe, but I'm fifteen and have NEVER done anything I want!" I explained. If someone were to understand it should be my mom. She was with my biological father for years and he watched her every move. Even though no one was abusing me, I still felt so miserable.  My dad took a deep breath and leaned back in his chair. "Amelia, Roman told us that you know the truth. You know the truth and you went out on your own anyways! How are we supposed to trust that you will take your safety seriously, when you just ran off without telling anyone! Without an escort!" I can sense my dads anger, but more so his concern. My dad always scolded me for making stupid choices, but right now I can see the same worry in his eyes that Roman had.  "How am I supposed to trust any of you when you have kept such a huge secret all these years! Maybe if I knew I was being PROTECTED and not SUPERVISED then I would have been able to accept it! I have felt caged and miserable all these years! I cant even go on a walk in the territory by myself! I cant go swimming alone, I cant read a book in the garden alone! I cant go shopping or get a coffee! I am fifteen and have never been out of these borders! Can't you see how crazy I am going!" I cried. The tears streamed down my face, and I didn't even know I was crying until my mom wiped my tears away. "I just want to feel normal for one day! I'm not even a werewolf so I feel out of place in my own home!" I stood up and ran out of my dad's office, and up to my room. I slammed my door and threw myself on my bed and cried. I hated feeling like no one understood, like no one thought that I was mature enough to know the truth. They had no right to keep something like that from me, it wasn't fair. If it has something to do with me then I have the right to know! I cried into my pillow until I fell asleep. I woke up to a hand shaking me awake.  "Amelia." Roman whispered. "Come on, I brought your dinner up. You need to eat." I groaned and threw my covers over my head. Roman chuckled and tore them back off. "Leave me alone." I begged.  "Get up and eat, love. Please." He whispered.  I looked out of my window and saw that the sun was starting to set. I sat up slowly and my head began to pound. "Ow." I moaned.  "Here I brought you some Advil. I figured you might have a headache when you woke up." Roman slipped two green liquid gel pills in my hand. I threw them in my mouth, and swallowed them with a glass of water. "Now get your butt up, and come eat." I walked over to the tray he had set on my little table out on the balcony. There was baked chicken with a mushroom cream sauce, and steamed veggies. My mouth watered and my stomach growled loudly. Roman chuckled. "Sorry."  I dug into my meal, and Roman just sat there and watched. We sat in a comfortable silence. I was too overwhelmed with everything to bother to strike up conversation.  "I heard what you said." Roman broke the silence when I was nearly done with my dinner. "About never being out of our borders and feeling out of place in your own home." Roman's voice was sad, and he looked at the ground as he whispered. "Do you feel out of place when you're near me?" I put my fork and knife down and leaned back in my chair. "No." I whispered. "The opposite actually. I only feel like I'm home when I am near you. It's unsettling." Roman tried to keep a smile from spreading across his face, but was failing miserably. "Why is it unsettling?" "Because I never felt like that before earlier today. I mean yea I have always been comfortable around you, but seeing you so worried about me. Seeing what I mean to you, it made the possibility of 'more' real. Its scary." I explained as best as I could.  Roman stood up from his chair and reached for my hand. I took it as I stood up and he pulled me into his arms. He backed up until his back rested against the balcony railing. He caressed my cheek and looked into my eyes. "I'll never be able to explain how much you mean to me Amelia." He whispered. "I hope one day you'll trust me with your heart." I leaned my face into his hand and he smiled. I wasn't sure exactly what I felt for Roman. I know I love him, but I don't know how far that love goes. The only thing I do know is that I love seeing Roman look at me like this, I love being the reason he smiles. Could there be more? Maybe. But only time can tell. I'm only fifteen, I'm not ready to be in love.  "Runaway with me." Roman whispered.  I looked into his eyes confused. "What?" He laughed and kissed the top of my head. "Just for a few days. I'll ask your parents if I can take you somewhere. Somewhere away from all this drama, and craziness. Just give you a few days to relax, and feel free." I shook my head and looked at the ground. "They'll never let me go anywhere without a team of guards." I sighed deep.  "Hey I might be young, but I have been training hard since I was eight. If I wasn't supposed to be future Alpha, I definitely would be the top pack warrior." He smiled proudly. "Come, lets talk to them." We walked down stairs hand in hand, and into my dads office. My dad was alone. "Evening, Alpha. May we have a moment of your time?" My dad looked up from the paperwork from his desk and saw our hands. He smiled, and leaned back in his chair as he placed his feet on his desk. "What's up kids?" "Well I was hoping I could take Amelia away for a week after finals are done." Roman spoke clearly.  My dad's face contorted in confusion, and maybe anger. "Why would I let Amelia go anywhere when there is another Alpha after her?" His voice was tense, but he was trying to control his anger.  "I was thinking of taking her to the Maldives. One of our allies owns the resort there. We would be safe, protected, but she wouldn't feel trapped. She could enjoy her birthday, feel less suffocated. She needs this." Roman tried to reason with my dad. He seemed to be softening up to the idea. He rubbed his hands up and down his face.  After a few moments my mom came in. "So the Maldives?" She closed the door and went to sit on my dad's lap. "I haven't even been, and my daughter gets to go?" "So I can go?" I asked cheerfully.  My parents looked at each other for a moment, then back to me. They nodded yes.  I yelped with excitement and jumped into Roman's arms! He laughed with me as he picked me up from the floor and squeezed me tight. My dad cleared his throat loudly, and Roman quickly set me on my feet. "There better not be any nonsense! My daughter leaves a virgin, she better come back a virgin!"  I blushed from embarrassment. "DAD!" I yelled.  Roman's eyes grew wide and he stood up straight. "Yes, Alpha." We walked out of the office and he engulfed me in another hug. I was so excited to finally go somewhere, and relax. I just had to get through the finals next week and I was free!! **Roman's POV** When I started to feel like there was something wrong, like Amelia wasn't safe, I gathered the three closest pack warriors and followed her scent. I don't know how she got passed the guards, but she has done it before. She drives me insane. My wolf, Ares, started to pace back and forth. I tried to calm him, but he sensed something that I didn't and it had us both on edge.  I followed Amelia's scent to the café on the corner, where I have taken her plenty of times. I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, that is until I stepped inside and smelled wood ash and death. A warlock who practiced dark magic was here. I looked over to where Amelia was sitting and the guy in front of her had all the signs of a dark warlock. How could she be so blind?   I stepped up to the table and instantly smelled his fear. (He better fear us. Slaughter him. Right here.) I soon dragged Amelia back to where the four wheeler was. I couldn't stop yelling at her, but I was so afraid because I knew the danger she was in and she was completely clueless. I was desperate to make her understand how important she is to me, but I will never be bale to fully express it. She's the beat in my heart, the air in my lungs, the sun in my sky. I don't feel like gravity keeps me here, but her. I feel like there are invisible strings that tie me to her. I would kill anyone who tried to hurt her, I would give my life if it ensured her safety. When I held her close to me, I felt like she was my destiny. Where I am meant to be forever.  After she was scolded by her parents, I heard how she felt. I really hope she didn't feel like I was suffocating her, like I was the one making her unhappy. I started working on a plan. A plan to take her away for a little while. Just us two. I would never take advantage of her, I don't plan on doing anything inappropriate. I just want to make sure she doesn't feel trapped anymore.  I took her, her dinner and we talked a little. I cannot describe the happiness I felt when she said she felt like she was home when she was in my arms. Its just the start of her feelings growing for me. There is hope. Hope for so much more between us.  After talking with her, and then her parents about the trip, she went up to her room and I went to make some calls to set everything up. I know we cannot leave until she finishes her finals on Wednesday of next week, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. I'm for sure going to take her shopping this weekend for anything she wants for the trip. I might have to book two rooms, just so her father is more confident is us going on this trip alone. I got off the phone with the Alpha that owns the resort we will be staying at, he is expecting us next friday. We just need to get through the rest of this week and next week. I can't wait to see her smiling and laughing carefree like she used to. I am going to make sure she never feels miserable again.
