The walk to Dr. Byrne’s place was quite long, and the drizzle did not make things any better. Fortunately, I had the money to catch a cabbing car the rest of the way to the residence, cutting the time in half. We quickly hopped out of the car, looking around before turning our sights to Dr. Byrne’s home.
The lights were out and as Max and I approached closer, I realized that the front door was opened. I looked at Max, fear gripping me as I could only imagine what we would run into going into that house. Were we too late?
