3. SAMANTHA'S POV

1000 Words
After my math class, I went to chemistry class which I share with my best friend Kiera. As soon as I entered the chemistry class I spotted her in our usual seats. I immediately went to her, excited to see her. I've missed her so much. I know she did too. "Well now, this is how my day is supposed to start. Being with my best friend!" She said as soon as she saw me approaching. "Come on Ki, It's already past nine. Don't tell me your day just began." I said smiling at her. "Oh, you know what I'm talking about. I hate it when you're not around me for too long. I've missed you so much, babes." She said hugging me. I hugged her back. I've missed her hugs. She's been gone for two weeks now. She was on a tour with her dance classmates. She's a very good dancer. In fact, she's a very great dancer. As for me, I wouldn't dance even if my life depended on it. I'm terrible at dancing. "So, how was your tour?" I asked, curiosity laced in my voice. "It was fantastic. We visited so many places, met a few famous dancers and they love my dancing. Some of them even told me to pursue dancing as my career. It was wonderful. I missed you every day though. I wished you were there with me. It would've been better. I hate being anywhere without you." She said pouting. I love her when she's like that, it's so cute. "I know friend. I also missed you a lot. And you know spending the holidays with my mom is hell." I said remembering my conversation with her today. I decided to ignore that. I can't spoil my mood. "Ok spill. What has your mother done this time? And don't even think of lying to me, you know you're a very bad liar." She said looking me straight in the eyes as if daring me to tell a single lie. "You know the same old same old." And so I told her about our conversation this morning. "Your mother is just a drama queen. After all these years of neglecting you, she's making it sound like you just woke up one day and said 'Mom from now onwards I'll be spending most of my time with my stepmother', If she wanted you to act like a good daughter then she should have done her job as a mother instead of using you to fight her battles." She said, the anger in her voice evident. I forgot to tell you guys Kiera hates my mother's gut. I don't blame her though. Kiera and I have been friends since we were kids. I spent most of my childhood at her house because my mother was always busy. She didn't have time for me at all. I remember this one time when I asked to spend Christmas with me, she told me to spend it with Kiera's family like I always do. I cried myself to sleep. I was six at that time. I planned on spending time with Kiera, at her house but my dad got hold of the news and took me. That was the day I got to learn that I have been spending Christmas at Kiera's ever since I was a baby. Even my childhood birthdays. When I asked my mom about it she didn't deny it. She just shrugged and told me that she paid for everything and that Kiera's parents' only job was to host the party. Since then I learned to not take everything my mother does or say to heart otherwise I'll be a crying mess every day. I've been spending my Christmases with my dad, Mama, and Logan ever since that day dad took me with him. I love spending Christmas with them, it is fun. I broke out of my thoughts when Kiera slapped my forehead.  "KI! That was painful." "What was I supposed to do? I waived a hand in front of you and you didn't react. I even tapped your shoulder you know. I hate it when you do that. I know what you're thinking about and I've told you to stop several times." She said frowning at me. "OK, I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I said smiling at her. That's when I realize that she was actually telling me that the teacher has arrived. He begins the class and soon he was done and he gave us homework. After our chemistry class, we went to the French class which we also share. I didn't really pay attention, to be honest. My stepmother speaks fluent French and she teaches me all the time, so I don't really need this class but I need to pass it so that I'll receive enough credits to graduate. I don't want to blow my chances of going to a medical school next year. Others may tell you that I don't really need to pay any attention in any class and I will still pass. They call me the school's genius. After French, we went to the cafeteria to get food for our lunch. As soon as we set down people started asking Kiera about the tour and in a matter of two minutes we were surrounded by a lot of people. I hate it when this happens. I'm not a fan of loud crowds. I like being in a quiet place but my friend is happy to answer them so I just suck it up. I try putting on a fake smile so that they wouldn't know I'm uncomfortable with them around us. As soon as the bell rang for the end of lunch I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. My next class is biology and then English and I'll be done for the day. I so wish I can see my brother right now but he's still in Canada to visit his maternal grandparents. When I called yesterday he said he was coming back later today. It's a very long flight so I guess by the time he arrives I'll be sleeping.
