Chapter 1- Ava is a dirty snitch

A/N I forgot to make one last announcement in the previous chapter. Because this is Jordyn’s book it would be set in 2030 to correlate with his age. However, I cannot tell what the future would be like for kids in that generation so I would be sticking to the trends of the present age. Also, note that there will be a few differences from the teaser left on the last chapter of Chasing The Good Girl to this chapter. This is because it was a rough painting of what the book was to be and now that I have a clearer image in my head I would refine the chapters. Thank you! Also, don’t forget to follow my Facebook Page @Amandla M reads! I leave update notify, new book alerts, I ask questions and share my thoughts on my books :) ************ Tuesday, 29th September 2020. Paris, France. J&A fashion show. Jordyn at 8 years old. I failed. I stared at the group of Boys grinning ear to ear and rating their outfits. They had probably never met before but look how easy it was for them to all become friends. They were all taller than me and although it was not very obvious I could not help but notice it. Maman was wrong. There was no way they would want to be friends with me. “Ta tenue est Moche (your outfit is ugly)” one of the boys said to me in French. I felt a little sad but said nothing, trying my best to look as nonchalant as ever. “ je ne l’ai jamais vu avant (I have never seen him before)” one of the other boys in the group whispered. “What Agency are you from? Daddy told me they were only using male models from his agency” the tallest one out of all of them said, now in English. “Alright! Since Jordyn over here is the only one that can behave and keep quiet he will be the first to go out on our runway !” Our organizer scolded the other boys. “And you Dasilva, our princess of the modeling world” he said with so much admiration as he gestured for her. Dasilva stepped out from the midst of all the other kids and all the boys looked at her in awe. When I saw her, I knew why they acted the way they did. Because Dasilva was gorgeous. She was wearing a long ice blue dress that flowed to the floor. Her dark brown hair was tied high up in a ponytail and a tiara was placed on her head. Her eyes were a Similar shade to her dress, but more gray than blue. She was stunning and now I understood why they called her the princess of the modeling world. I watched fashion shows with Maman and I could vaguely remember seeing her before. She had to be a child celebrity and also had Rich and famous parents. She was very tall and even taller than the boys that were picking on me earlier. I had expected her to be rude to the others because she had the best career out of all of them but she looked lost in her own bubble, her face completely plain with zero emotion. The closer she was, the higher the blush on my cheeks rose. When she was beside me I turned away, feeling like dirt. “Have you ever been on a runway before?” She asked softly. Her voice took me by surprise. She was definitely not British, French or American because her accent sounded quite strange. When I did not reply, she let out a sigh. “Pardon moi, tu ne comprends pas l’anglais (Sorry you do not understand English)” she apologized in French. “No no I do I was just distracted” I said, stumbling over my words. She was so pretty it made me nervous. Why was she even talking to me? I felt nausea from this interaction. “Oh” she said, tilting her head towards me briefly. Everything she did was so gracious. “No” I breathed out. “This is my first time. My mother’s best friends own the brand and they thought I was model material . I did not practice much for the runway because they thought I was a natural” I bit my lips and shut my eyes in mortification. I was talking too much. She would stop talking to me soon. “Lucky you, my mother had to train me for months. I have always been a tomboy” she giggled. Mon Dieu, Dasilva was laughing with me. I had to tell my friends at school about this exchange for they would be so proud of me. “Okay Dasilva, Jordyn you are up” The organizer called out. Dasilva walked forward and I moved my wobbly legs to stand beside her as the cameras flashed. “Breathe Jordyn” she muttered before we began to walk down the runway. I immediately reminded myself about all the good things going on in my life. Maman had finally given me a dad. I loved my new dad more than anything and from the looks of things, we were going to be a family. Dasilva also spoke to me! At the end of it, I could not help but smile at everything. It was all a success, “How is your hair so curly?” I asked Dasilva once we were backstage. She shrugged. “I am only white passing. I am not white but my mother is. We are South African” she explained. “I think your hair is pretty” I blurted out. Dasilva stared at me for a moment and did not say a word. I felt embarrassed. “Sorry, my mother does not like my hair so I thought it was not pretty” she said, her face falling slightly. Relief washed over me and I continued. “Do you have a South African name? I heard there are tribal names and all” “Thobeka” she said. Before I could say anything, two people wearing black came over and took her away. I stood and waited, hoping she would turn and wave me but she did nothing. I felt sad and hoped we could meet again, so I told my mother I wanted to go full time into modeling. I was wrong. And As the years passed by, I eventually forgot all about her. **************** Saturday, 25th August 2029. Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. I emerged from the pool and immediately took off my eyewear before checking the time on my wristwatch. They say these wristwatches are water proof but I could barely trust any of them. Because of that I preferred to keep my wristwatches on the tiles by the pool. “A whole god damned minute” I muttered, stopping the timer on my wrist watch. Could be one or two seconds less while I wasted time taking off my goggles. “Still not good enough” I shook my head, paying no heed to the excuses my mind gave me. I was a competitive swimmer in school and because resumption was in less than a month I had to start getting back in shape. I had been traveling throughout summer for modeling jobs and could only hit it at the gym. My dad used to play football back in High School but stopped when Maman went missing. Football did seem fun but I preferred to swim because practice was not as tedious. There was no way I could balance being who I was with football, scholarships and all that drama. In as much as I loved swimming I knew I was going to let go of all that when I left college. Dad’s business was way more important and I was honestly intrigued by it so I was not going to have a hard time letting go of the competition. I climbed out of the pool and decided that was it for today. Reiner and Rapha wanted to hit some new burger joint later in the evening and I wanted to have a go at it too. Besides, we had not hung out in a long while. Once I was done with washing off all the Chlorine on my body I went to dry off. I had natural loose curls so it wasn’t the easiest to dry off. Then I heard it. “Jordyn! Get over here right this instant!” Maman’s voice echoed. My eyes widened in surprise and I cursed under by breath before yelling a “Coming!” I had no idea she was going to be back in The US today! Slipping on some briefs and shorts, I rushed out of my room and to the sitting room. I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw my sister sitting on Dad’s thighs and smirking. That little shit Ava. I knew she told on me the moment I saw my mother’s blazing brown eyes. I promised her 50 bucks if she shut up about it! “Welcome” I plastered a smile on my face. The frown on Maman’s face deepened and Ava’s smirk widened. I felt like ashes had been thrown straight into my mouth. “Uhmmm as you can see the house is clean meaning I did not throw any parties-“ “Save it!” Maman rolled her eyes as she sharply cut me off. “That’s only because you have household staff and I’m beginning to think you need to learn how to do chores by yourself!” She hissed. “What?” My eyes widened. “But- I didn’t- Maman please!” I begged dramatically, “Ava” she turned towards her. “Tell us what you just said Twenty minutes ago” Ava stuck her tongue out at me before she turned towards Maman with an innocent pout. “This morning I saw a girl sneaking out of the door with her shoes in her hands. I immediately screamed for help because I have never seen her before. The security caught her immediately but Jordyn came in and said they had a sleepover. And you know what Maman says about sleepovers” she said in a sing song voice. “Jordyn is only allowed to bring boys for sleepovers-“ Piece of ungrateful brat. “You played me” I growled, glaring at her. “Jordyn!” Maman glared at me before glancing back at Ava. “I made a box of eclairs squares for you two. There are other sweets inside. But because Jordyn is being bad you can have everything in it” she kissed Ava’s hair. “Merci Maman!” She yipped enthusiastically and sprinted out of the room. “But that’s not fair! I got snitched on and she gets an award for it? She even took my money as Bribe!” I complained. “Don’t act like you didn’t do anything!” She snapped at me. “I trusted you Jordyn! Why did you have to sneak a girl in last night? Have you been sneaking girls into the house while we aren’t around?” Her eyes widened in horror. “What? Umm Maman” I blushed heavily, rubbing the back of my head. I hate when she traps me like this. “You didn’t answer me.” She deadpanned. “Is this a regular habit or not?” “No it’s not” I lied through my teeth. “Jordyn,” she warned. “I could go through CCTV and check if you actually did” “Fine!” I confessed. “But I don’t do it often. Maybe three times a week” I swear I didn’t see it coming. But very soon I was sprawled against the couch in front of me, rubbing my forehead. Obviously, Maman had hit me with one of those hard throw pillows. “What did I tell you? Just because you’re Seventeen doesn’t mean you can whore around! Oh my God what if you get someone pregnant?” She shrieked. Maman would always be holier than thou. It was hard to be a part of the Gen Alpha generation and not have sex before getting married. Maman didn’t understand that the times were different from hers, but it’s not like Millennials and Gen Z were not damned bunnies. “I know what a condom is! I’ve had sex education at school” I said. “Stop being cocky with me Jordyn at least look sorry!” “Jordyn, you’re grounded” Maman said finally. I rubbed the sore part on my forehead as I stared at her. I let out a groan and tried to beg but I was too weak. “Please,” I started weakly. “And just because you’re signed under a hot shot modeling agency does not mean you will not get extra work.” Shit. “What does that mean?” I asked, pressing my lips together as I prayed to God my punishment will be reduced. Maman smiled wickedly. “You will work at a restaurant or cafe starting Monday. If you do not work at a restaurant, you will give up modeling.” “You cannot be serious” I blurted out in disbelief. “Oh Jordyn, watch me!” And with that, she stood up and stormed out of the living room. Dad was gazing at her with a longing smile before licking his lips. Of course he found that sexy. Ewww. “But why did you do me like that? What happened to bro code? How could you let her punish me like that?” I frowned. “Because what you did was wrong. Come here. You’re soaking the couch with your wet hair” he gestured for me to come. Sometimes looking at dad made me feel like I had an elder brother or twin. My parents had gotten me when they were extra young so they looked like they hadn’t aged at all. “I wonder what she’s going to do if she knows you lost it since when you were 15” he chuckled. “But seriously? Three times a week? You know there’s something like a penile Fracture. Imagine You Going to the hospital because you have a sex related injury” he bit the insides of his cheek. He looked extremely amused I was sure he was going to burst out laughing. “At least you can keep a secret” I wiggled my eyebrows. “No Jordyn,” he shook his head. “You cannot bring girls into the house. You don’t know how sharp Ava’s ears are. You cannot traumatize her because you have a high sex drive” he looked into my eyes. “I know. I’m sorry. I won’t do it again” I told him. “And I hate that we aren’t around sometimes. But she’s looking up to you now. As much as I hate it, you have to play the parent when we aren’t present. And your lifestyle is definitely not setting a good example” I nodded and sighed, trying to put my words nicely. “Dad I think it’s kind of hard” I confessed. “I have modeling and swimming, not to mention my numerous brand deals. I cannot give it up for a job at an eatery” “But you know you need to be extremely preoccupied. Don’t think I don’t know you had another outburst at school. Because your principal called me when it went down. So at this point I agree with your mother. I rather see you use your free time working than you using it to whore around and risk catching STDs” “Fine” I pouted, trying to ensure my dimples were out. I needed to act cute in hopes of reducing my punishment. “Jordyn,” dad rose a brow at me. “You have hollow cheeks now. You’re no longer cute. So it’s not going to work on me” he said. “But Maman has dimples too. And y’all are kind of... not young. But when she does this she gets away with everything” I argued. “Well I love her,” he grinned, his eyes sparkling with warmth. “And because I do I find it hard to stop her from getting what she wants. Maybe if you fall in love and stop whoring around you would understand. Now let me go beg your mother. And for God sake don’t do anything that will land you into more trouble” Love.... Why was the concept so hard to me? Why could I not fall in love with someone that would make me melt? Why did I always end up whoring around instead of finding someone to settle with? Such a whore I was, I shook my head. Moments later, I was in the kitchen glaring at my sister. “You lied to me” I frowned. She rolled her eyes and threw a pastry into her mouth. She was too damn sassy for her own good. “You were going to cheat me” she replied. “But you agreed to 50!” I exclaimed. “That was until I found out you were rich” she smirked. “And what does that even mean?” I stared at her in confusion. Her brown eyes twinkled with mischief and she brought out her iPad. “I searched the internet and it says you are worth 5.5 million dollars. And you were going to give me a fifty?” She glared. I rolled my eyes. “Maman and Dad control all my money till I’m 18. I’m way too young to control all of that money I’m just 17!” I argued. “Fine. Fair enough. But the damage has been done” she shrugged nonchalantly. “I deserve a box of the eclairs square. You did not bargain your price and caused a huge mess” I growled at her. “Fair enough.” She shrugged and pushed the box to me. At least one thing went right today. Calling my friends, I explained to them I could not meet up later because my darling sister snitched on my hook ups. After dad begged Maman to tone down her punishment, It was decided that I would only work evening shits four times a week. It was better but still awful. Still I wish I knew my life was going to be turned upside down starting Monday. A/N Whoops we have two Notes from me in a chapter.
