Ariana As soon as we were alone, I crossed my arms and leaned back against the wall. I wasn’t in the mood for this conversation. Whatever Ryder had to say, I didn’t care. He had already crossed every line I’d drawn, and I wasn’t about to let him sweet-talk his way out of it. “Go ahead,” I said flatly, staring at him. “Say whatever you need to say.” Ryder shifted uncomfortably, his hand running through his messy dark hair as he avoided eye contact for a moment. I could see the hesitation in his eyes, but I wasn’t going to make this any easier for him. He owed me an explanation—no, he owed me much more than that after everything he’d done. “I’m sorry,” Ryder began, his voice quieter than usual. “About what happened, about Ethan and—” “Save it.” I cut him off, my anger flaring up again.
