I craned my neck to see out the window to find out who was going to come in the front door first. I noted the shattered glass from the door and realized that was what I had been picking out of myself. A tuft of brown hair bobbing behind the bushes caught my eye. It wasn't a head I recognized, and in a heartbeat, I knew that my time of rest had come to an end. I was almost positive that even if I pulled the glass out, I wasn't going to be able to walk.
