Alpha Darius's POV
I watched from the hospital waiting area as Dr. Hayes finished his examination of Killian's monitors. The conversation about Clara's effect on his recovery was making my wolf restless in ways I didn't like.
After a while, Dr. Hayes and the nurse prepared to leave Clara alone with Killian. Before the doctor stepped out of the room, I could hear him speaking to Clara.
"Please stay with him," Dr. Hayes said, his voice carrying a note of urgency. "For Alpha Killian's swift recovery. Your presence seems to be the key to his healing."
The doctor's words hit me like a punch to the gut. He was asking Clara to stay close to another Alpha, another man, for his benefit. Everything in me rebelled against the idea.
