I had lost track of how long we just sat there, neither one of us speaking, just enjoying one another’s company. We had spoken about so many things that didn’t really matter, but the fact that we finally managed to talk to one another was a big thing. It felt like we had finally reached some level ground, a space where we wouldn’t be at one another’s throats for the simplest of things—and it made me happier than anything else could have.  I turned to look at Hera, and I found myself taking in her features—something that I had done a few times since all of this had actually started. As always, I started by looking at her eyes, at her lashes and her eyebrows.
