One moment. That was all it took for me to process what was happening around me. One moment in which I managed to wonder whether I had stepped too close to the pond, whether my foot had slipped. One moment before I remembered the feel of the Queens’ hands on my back just before I had felt myself falling forward—felt myself being sucked into the water. Was that even possible?
