C H A P T E R 139 - Hera.

2177 Words

I had barely finished my sentence when I became aware of the mistake that I had just made—and I would dare to say that it was a big one. How could I have been so stupid? How could I have been stupid enough to admit that the only reason why Marcel was going with me, was because it had a condition of the Queen? How could I have been stupid enough to say it right here, right in his presence? There was no way that he had misunderstood any of that. My words had been too clear, my sentences too simple. And even though I wasn’t facing him, I knew that he was paying very close attention to me—just like everyone else in the room. I knew that there was no turning back from this, that the only thing for me to do now, was to go ahead and finish what I had started and to deal with the consequences.
