I had made it as far as the hallway that housed Hera’s bed chambers, before I stopped, taking a moment to ask myself what it was that could have possibly prompted her into requesting my presence in her chambers—at this time of the night. This was the first time that I had stopped to think about what the consequences of this would be—but then again, I had told Aurora that I had already marked Hera, which meant that this visit wouldn’t be as scandalous as they would try to portray it. Telling myself that I wasn’t doing anything wrong, I continued to make my way down the hallway. Almost without realising it, I started to focus on what I could hear coming from her chambers—and it took me a moment to realise that I couldn’t hear anything other than her breathing and her erratic sounding heart
