I looked around the woods slowly, taking in every detail. The trees were too quiet. No birds singing. No small animals rustling through the underbrush. The scents were gone, somehow there was no smell here.
Keanu growled low in his chest and pulled me close to his side. "It isn't safe for you here, Leah."
"What do you mean?" Shane looked between us, confused.
"If Anton was hurt, Mary knew Leah would come back." Keanu's eyes were scanning the trees, searching for threats. "This was a trap to get Leah here."
I was glad Keanu was thinking the same thing I was. "Was it to get me back here? Or to get me away from Northwind?"
