Leah Not the eyes moving through shadow. The shadow itself, all of it, surging forward like a tide of living darkness. It gathered and compressed, taking shape with each step it took toward the light. Massive paws formed from the blackness, each one the size of a dinner plate, silent against the stone floor. Legs followed, thick with shadow-muscle, the dark fur rippling like smoke caught in a breeze. A body materialized, enormous, easily twice the size of any wolf I had seen in life, its shoulders reaching my chest, its head having to look down at me. A wolf. A colossal shadow wolf with golden eyes that burned with a fire older than this world. It stopped short of me. Close enough that I could feel the cold rolling off its fur. Not the warmth that permeated everything else in this place
