Ella’s POV The sun had already started to fade by the time I stepped out of the company building. The street was alive with movement, cars rushing past, people walking in small groups, while some were talking loudly, others seemed too tired to speak from exhaustion. I stood for a moment on the steps, breathing in the faint smell of exhaust and fried food from the vendors across the road. The noise helped drown out the noise inside my head, I think I might still be safe if the smell of food doesn't make me want to vomit. I looked over at where Hans’s car was usually waiting. It wasn’t there yet, which meant he was probably still upstairs finishing something. Normally, I would wait for him, like always. He would come down, smile, and insist on driving me home, even if I said he should stop
