The sun was just beginning to rise over the Midnight Castle when Elena burst into the throne room, her face pale with worry. Her mate, Kai, looked up from his morning briefing, concern immediately etched into his features at the sight of her agitation.
“Elena, what’s wrong?” Kai asked, standing up from his throne and moving quickly to her side.
“I can’t find Kaia!” Elena exclaimed, her voice trembling with panic. “I’ve looked everywhere and asked everyone. No one has seen her since last night.”
Kai took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. “I already spoke to Lord Star. He confirmed that Kaia was with Adam. They’re spending time together after realizing they were fated mates. It makes sense that they’d want to be alone.”
Elena nodded, but once they were alone, her worry only deepened.
