CHAPTER 30: THE ALPHA’S DAUGHTER AND ALI’S ENCOUNTER
When Ali left the village, the last thing he could recall was waving his goodbyes and bidding his farewell to Lily. In spite of, his journey doesn’t promise much. He is a rogue, and by means of, the moment he enter the capital of Devonshire, he knew that he won’t be able to turn his back and run. It was life that would be put at risk here. The villagers, the wolves who are slowly dying needs him, especially the aid of the Kingdom or they would be ending up facing the doom they never asked. The others may have been dead as he seeks for help, but those who had been holding on in hope he wished he was never too late. Thus far, presupposed not all was granted.
Weary, Ali brushed the loose strand of his hair. It was hot the next morning, and it burnt mostly his exposed skin. The array of light, the luminosity which seems as if he couldn’t withstand it. Parched up throat in seek, Ali pulled the vial where he had contain the water he bring with him. He gave it a little shake, but it was empty. No sounds, indicating that he have already drank every last drop it could at least offer.
“Damn it.” Ali cursed. His sweat trickled across.
If only he could morphed into his wolf form, but he couldn’t risk it. The enchantment which Lily had put around him would be in a fruitless vain. Her efforts would be futile, her wantons to protect him and shield his scent as a rogue would be put in a waste and Ali wouldn’t want that.
He sighs.
He roamed his eyes around. Left with no choice, but to seek some who could have give him enough, Ali began walking. Soft footfalls he left behind, when his ears picked up a sound. It was as if some water splashing around. A falls, a river or a stream? He haven’t had any idea, yet that is what he had been looking for. With pure joy, he began to follow where the sound was coming from. The forest lay ahead of him. The bushes were much taller as the cold breeze swiftly swoosh in a cold musk scent as the path was becoming more narrowed. The shades loomed. The route is slowly becoming more darker as well. But Ali do not mind. Not at all. As per said as what most known them for, wolves have already gotten themselves familiar with the wilderness even at such young age.
As the bushes finally slanted to give him way. Ali ended up on a clearing and he isn’t mistaken at all. A falls lie ahead, but it wasn’t what caught his attention, but the bare physique basking underneath those water.
It was a woman. And for no apparent reason, Ali couldn’t take his eyes off from her. Her hair seems silky soft, the glinted and lay smoothly at her back as the water run gently. Her nape and her skin were as poise as she seems. A pale complexion which match her greatly, although he have not yet seen her face.
Ali was bewitched. It was as though he had forgotten his thirst.
Slowly, the woman turned around, and it was her shrieked who woke him up from that sudden trance.
“W—who are you?!” Clamours on her feet, she quickly submerged herself onto the water, hiding herself from his prying eyes.
His cheeks reddened same at hers. Suddenly, Ali felt somehow embarrassed. He turned his head away, and contorted the sudden admiration that he do not usually feel.
On the other, Ysabela was beyond furious. She was fuming upon finding the male, which she had least expected from. Not when she thought she was alone there on that place which took her on its arms, the water, engulfing her sorrow and bringing her affront towards the comfort she seek, which she couldn’t find anywhere in the Palace. It was a chaos, but she was in favour to what may have taken place, because it may or may not have not postpone the custom. Either way, it doesn’t matter. Not when she could not even make some choices of her own.
And so, when Ysabella made sure that there are no warriors around, she made a gateway, an escapade as she prowl, leaving Matilde in spite of how reluctant the latter was.
“Your father would kill me!” She as fearing the most the wrath of Ysabella’s father. Her eyes are worried, concern littering, but she knew that Ysabella could look after herself.
After all, she did not become an Alpha’s daughter for nothing of sort. At such young age, Ysabella had already been trained. Before she thought, perhaps it is for her own safety, but what her father told her was it was because she was being prepared to compete at the tradition that would be held if she would be at age. Something that doesn’t even appease the lonely soul of her own wolf.
Both of them disagreed, but if they don’t comply. It’s either the option that would have been her end will be banishment or being forsaken, strip from her rank until she was left to rot as a rogue, who is slowly losing their sanity. That wouldn’t be impossible. She know how hard-headed and stubborn her father was.
“I will be alright, and I’ll come back before dawn.” Ysabella uttered right before she turned her back and leave.
Matilde sighs. She just hope that the stroll her lady was asking would cleared her mind today.
And that’s what exactly happened before Ali came into the picture.
“I didn’t mean to.” He gulps inwardly as he was facing the opposite direction away from her.
“You are lying! How dare you?!” Angrily she said.
Abashed, she felt her chest beating. The fact that a man had just peer, but what more—
Her eyes widened when she realized something.
“Had you been....” They were bulging from its sockets. “Had you been there, when I get naked?”
The nerve of this man! The mere thought fuelled more her madness. It was clashing, it thunders as her chest thumps wildly. She just couldn’t accept the fact that somebody had just seen her naked, most of all a man, when all her life, no eyes had been laid—Ysabella hadn’t been exposed, except for Matilde. They grew together, and most of all, both of them are women, female wolves.
Ali frowns.
“I am not, which I know you won’t believe, but I came here—”
“You came here for what?” Haughty, Ysabella cut him off, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“To drink some water.” It might have been stupid, but what can he do? It was true. In fact, he was here, and he is still holding his empty vials.
“And you expect me to believe that?” She bared her teeth. “Try harder, wolf.”
“Here, this might have made you.” Ali sighs before throwing the vials on the air.
There is a sudden splash.
It fell in front of Ysabella and floated.
She raised her eyebrows. It was a vial, which has been used by travellers to keep their water.
Should she believe him? She thought. But she couldn’t risk it. Not when she barely knew him, but what if he was telling the truth, and it was her who was making a big deal when he had no I’ll intention with?
“It’s for traveller.” She said as a matter of fact. “Where are you headed?”
“To the Devonshire Kingdom.” Ali said.
That perks Ysabella’s attention. “And may I ask why?” She added.
What could had been his business to the Kingdom, when the king isn’t present, neither the Queen? She heard the news from the servants. They said that the Queen left without informing the King to where the Motherland Salem was, and they have no idea why. Even she didn’t know what has been going on. They are shielded from whatever reason she couldn’t tell. The moment that the King found out her absence, he quickly ordered a carriage and was already off on his way. To where the Kingdom has been left with the two heir—It’s either Tarik or Augustus, whom the king entrusted his throne.
“Why are you curious?” It was Ali’s turn to ask.
“Because I came from there.” Ysabella didn’t find any reason to deny nor hide it. But she keep in mind to put in secrecy that she was an Alpha’s daughter as she still do not fully trust the stranger. “What is your name?”
“Ali.” He said. “My name is Ali. What is yours?”
“Ysa, call me Ysa.”Ysabella found herself speaking of her name. “So that makes us no stranger slightly, what would be your reason for going to the Kingdom you speak of?”
“I needed their help.” Ali said. “One of the villagers had gotten sick, I had a friend whom I have left there to tend to them as I seek for their aid.”
The news left Ysabella stunned. She had no idea about that one, neither about some wolves who had just becoming sick, because if they are, then it would surely spread, leading for the monarch to take an action.
“What? But how comes that we didn’t know about that?” Ysabella frowns.
“I have no idea even.” Ali only shrugged his shoulder.
“Well, I think I can help you entering the Palace.” This time, she sounded serious. Her face firmed. Worries laced her chest, and somehow, why does she was slowly finding herself lowering her guard for the male?
“You do?” Relief flooded on his face, which he did not try to hide. “You know I was kind of worried that the guards won’t let me—”
“They may have not.” She gnawed her lips.
“What do you mean they won’t?” Ali’ forehead ceased, wondering about what she said.
“The king is not there, as well as the Queen... “She trailed of. “So technically, nobody would be allowed inside the capital unless they are permitted to enter or a royal blood.”
“Shit.” Ali cursed underneath his breathe. “I was... I didn’t know about that one.”
He was pacing back and forth. He could feel the frustrations crawling its way towards his chest. He left Lily there and risk it just so he could ask for help, but now the woman was telling him something he least expected to. But he remember something of what she said.
Ali trained his eyes across to her.
“You said you’ll help me, right?” He questions her.
“As I said, I will.” Ysabella lean her shoulder towards the large stone beside her.
She no longer felt the need to hide as the water concealed those part which she tends to hid.
“But how? You just told me that nobody would be allowed to enter the Palace.” Ali was left confounded, and confused. Slowly, his eyes widened. “Unless...”
“I think there’s no use hiding and you seems somebody whom I can trust, but no funny business.” She warned him. “And yes, I was a royal blood, that means I can be your key to enter the Palace, but not on those clothes.” Ysabella pointed at what his clothes. “That would make you suspicious, plus put me in trouble.”
“That’s why I am here, didn’t I?” Ysabella crossed her arms as her eyes darkened.
Slowly, the irises changes into a much darker colour. She was opting to call, summoned Matilde using their bond. The pack link, which allowed mostly of them, who are a member of a pack to talk using their mind no matter how far they are from each other.
On the Palace, Matilde could feel her ladyship’s calls.
‘My lady!’ She uttered. ‘Are you okay? Did something happen?’ She quickly asked.
‘Nothing of sort.’ Ysabella replied using their mind link. ‘But I wanted you to do something for me.’
‘What it is, my lady?’ Curiously, she asked, but she wasn’t expecting what Ysabella would do.
‘I wanted you to bring me clothes...’
‘Clothes.’ Matilde noted. ‘Anything else?’
‘A man’s clothes, Matilde.’ The latter asked.
‘Okay, my lady—’ But she stop midway.
Matilde’s eyes widened.
A—a freaking man’s clothes for what?!
She was shocked. Beyond bewildered as this is the first time such strange request had came from Ysabella. And there’s no way that Matilde won’t find out whom it is for.
