CHAPTER 38: LILY’S ABDUCTION
Everything hurts. Everything was blurry. Had you ever woke up having headache? One of the worst, and to add up on how much you are suffering already. Lily felt the ache, groaning terribly as she cannot longer endure. It was a splitting migraine, which she had mostly trying to bear with. Lily panted as it throbs more. She didn’t know what happened. Was it the sickness getting on to her? She didn’t know. Lily haven’t had any slightest of idea. She couldn’t remember as all seems like the anguish she was plunged onto was becoming more intense. The intensity she could no longer hold, but it doesn’t end there.
Her questions, which continue to put forth after she felt as if she was being burnt alive. She has a fever.
“A—arg…” Lily whimpers, she curled up in a ball, when past events finally made its way for her to remember.
As she recall, it was more then being betrayed. She saw Evans, the child she cared the most, the one she cured dragging her already numb body outside of the room, where she rested. Very oblivious about the feast those monsters outside were having. The smell of flesh, of blood is the first thing, which greeted Lily. It reeks, churning her insides, but what more—the silent screams of help, in spite of the fact that nobody was coming. Thus far, she’s no fool about what Evan’s had just told her, the revelation of truth from the sweet girl she knew.
Evans had just revealed who she is. The memory took her way back to reminisce, although Lily does not want to anymore.
“Since you are going to die, might as well tell you the truth,” Evan started as she writ on the floor. Lily couldn’t do anything, but to listen, although she was already put forth to suffer towards something she haven’t had any idea why. Where does this disease came from? And most of all, to what Evan’s has been speaking of, she said all was plotted, an evil she did not expect to come from a mere child. Most of all, how can a small being committed torment, and suffering more than to her own species?
Lily thought that her shock would end there, but what she said had left her more baffled.
“I am not really a child, Miss.” She smiled sweetly at her.
“W—what?” Lily’s orbs widened, the curve of her lips formed an o as she express her shock, it was beyond what she was thinking, thoughts swarmed, because she failed to foresaw it. But how can she foretold the foreboding omen? She was small, she resembles a child, a young pup of the wolves.
The latter chuckled at her reaction.
“That’s right; I know it was shocking that I may have been much older than you.” She said as if it is one of the most normal things that tend to happen, but it wasn’t. Had Lily never run nor encounter somebody same like her. “Are you familiar with runt wolves?” She added.
Runt wolves. Of course she was. How can she not be familiar with them? Runt wolves were the wolf who remain on their child form no matter how much they aged. But in exchange of their youth, this implicate, and cost them their beast. They may have came from the species of the wolves, but they won’t be able to transform and morphed, however, they would have the ability same with a normal wolf. But to stay that way doesn’t mean it was a pure bliss for most of them, because being a runt is equal into being a rogue. They are an outcast, thrown, and tend to get bullied, look down as if dirt on the soles of most high rank wolves. A freak, if that is what would most say.
“You are a runt?” Lily couldn’t believe it!
Disbelief were written all over her face? It’s just hard to accept, but she couldn’t help, but to wonder. Was Evan’s holding some grudge against the villager, which urge her to do such thing, such horrible crimes that even killed some children?
Her fist balled.
“B—but why…” Lily trailed of regardless of the pounding inside her head. “Why would you…how can you..”
No words could explain the grief she felt as she mourn for the dead corpses as they were gnawed, and chew by those monstrous being.
The smile from Evan’s lips fade. She was no longer grinning nor laughing, her eyes on a brimmed of a distasteful expression as if disgusted.
“Do you know what they did to me, to us?” She said, pertaining towards the savage monsters outside.
Lily couldn’t withstand their smell. It was rotten and pungent as they reeks.
Evan’s circled her, her face contorted by the sudden wrath Lily haven’t had any idea where it might have came from. It was that cold icy anger at the pools of her eyes.
“They look innocent, aren’t they?” She paused, and their eyes meet. “But they are not!”
Suddenly she hollered, and every wolf who is still alive felt her madness as they whimpered across. Lily felt the sullen grief on their howl. It expresses so much pain, and a ghastly terrifying truth that they are dying. There would be no help, but in spite of, Lily still couldn’t let go of her beliefs that Ali would came back. Ali would have helped from the kingdom same with what they had talk before.
She knew he will be back, but funny how, how ironic that he might not see her alive…anymore.
“They are actually horrible, Miss.” She said, spitting venoms on every words she uttered. “They deserve more than what was coming from them! They deserve to die, and to rot in hell!”
At that exact moment, Lily couldn’t see the child in her, but a monster, an evil she had been deceive as it lies conformed, concealed as a sheep on a clothing of a wolf.
“Do those children deserve it as well?” Lily put forwards to appeal at least her emotions, but she was far more lost, adherent towards the fact that she was ready to kill those who done wronged to her.
“They do.” Unaverred words she uttered as Evan stood there cruelly. She did not falter nor hesitated. “Because they were just a bad fruit bear from a bad tree, and by means of, if they are in that state, don’t we tend to throw them away?”
“They are not just some fruits nor things, Evan!” Lily couldn’t suppress her anger. “They are lives! Are you hearing yourself now?”
“I can hear myself.” Evan’s sneered at her. “But I don’t care whether they are or they are not! If I want them dead, they should die. If I want them beheaded, then that should happen.”
“You’re crazy…” Lilly uttered.
Every single word she spouted deems to be more terrifying. It was so horrible, leaving her horrified.
“I may be crazy, but that’s the truth.” Evan uttered with such mockery. “But don’t worry, we are not going to line you up with the dead yet. We won’t kill you since you deems worthy than those lives, than this village. One and for all, we needed you alive, if your little friend came back.”
At what she said, Lily’s orbs widened.
“Don’t you dare touch him!” Her wolf growled, she bared her teeth, but as she express that sudden strength, and so the drawback came. Hardly breathing, she fell again on her bed. Her chest contracted, and she felt herself weakened, while the throbs continue for her to suffer. Lily whimpered, she twisted from her sides, and rolled with clenched teeth. Tears began streaming on each side of her eyes as they began to get moist, they watered inn accords, because of the distress she was plunged into.
However, what more, despite of her situation, she was more than worried for Ali. Wishing for him to never come back yet, choosing to suffer alone than to drag him here with her.
She closed her orbs. Lily shut down her eyes.
‘Please, don’t come back yet, Ali.’ She whispered silently inside her head.
And that is what happened.
On the other hand, Ali was still inside the Palace, seeking the help he needed, what they needed.
“You say they were sick?” Ysabella asked.
The two of them together with Matilde were seated her room as they discussed the matter at hand. It just that Ysabella need to make sure first, that he was telling the truth. However, he seems to be speaking of what really happens; besides Ali wouldn’t have travelled that far only to lies about. If he lies, that could get him in trouble, if proven that it was not, nor actually happened.
“They are as what I said.” Ali began. “Me, and my friend were looking for somebody when we find out that the entire village are suffering from the illness that we didn’t know about.”
“And so that’s how you end up there?” Matilde interfere.
“Yes.” Ali answered politely.
“And who’s one you are looking for?” Ysabella curiously asked.
“Another friend, who had not gotten back yet, and seems lost.” He replied, maintaining the same calm expression on his face.
“I’m sorry about that, tell me if I could be of any help.” She offered.
“It’s alright, what I am asking was for them to help the village, since I promise to Lily that I’ll be back with the aid they need.” He said.
“Don’t worry; I’ll inform the court and the council, although it will take long.” She sighs. ‘The king isn’t here, nor was the Queen, so I am not really sure how it would go.”
“Can’t you make the process quick?” In hope, Ali suggested.
“No matter how much I wanted to, I can’t.” Ysabella met his eyes. “I do not have power here. I was just a mere royal blood sent to attend the ceremony, but—“
“But?” Ali questionably asked.
“My pack might be able to help.” She said. Hope blooms on Ali’s chest. “ We may not have healers, which are all skilled like the witches from Salem, but they have enough capabilities to handle such.”
With that said, Ali was relieved.
“Thank you.” He sincerely uttered with a genuine smile. He meant it. “I owe you, no—we owe you a lot, my lady.”
“No.” Ysabella smiled at him. “It is our duty to help those who are in need.” She added.
And as quickly as she does, Ysabella write a letter for her father in hope that he will sent their healers towards the village. They did not waste any second and as she did, Ali bid his farewell, only to be stop by the latter herself.
“Won’t you stay and wait ‘til we received a reply tonight?” She asked hoping.
And she didn’t know why she seems to be comfortable of his presence, although the two of them are nothing, but strangers. Her wolf doesn’t seems to opposed the idea, which is odd. This is strange, and Ysabella was acting on it, although she didn’t have any idea why. Ali, the name Ali as it rolled on her tongue. It was like, it perfectly fits, and she was scared, terrified to know the reason behind those weird sensations, and the butterflies running inside of her stomach.
She gnawed her lips, when he shook his head.
“I can’t stay, but I trust your words, my lady.” He said. “Somebody is waiting for me there, and I can bear leaving her alone to handle everyone in the village.”
“Was it Lily?” Unknowingly, she uttered the name Ali mentioned earlier. The friend he speaks of, or are they only friends.
“Yes, it was her.” Ali confirmed.
Right before Ysabella could think, her big mouth runs before her head.
“Is she your mate?” She spouted without thinking.
Ali laughs at her question.
“No.” He chuckled and shook his head, before he wave his farewell. “Goodbye, my lady.”
As he turned his back, Ysabella couldn’t understand why she cares s much, and why has she felt envious towards….Lily. Unbeknownst, towards the fate which behold the pair. Something she hadn’t foresee, a thread weaved to connect.
