Dauis is kind of disappointed at how his encounter with Allen’s woman turned out. He didn't even get her name, and thinking about losing the bet annoyed him, but what was more annoying was Allen’s boldness in bringing Shiela inside while the other woman was still there.
Or could he be wrong? Watching Sheila and this woman associate with each other seems so natural, and so close.
“So, you lose,” Darius said in a mocking voice. His eyes are sparkling in amusement at the turnout of our conversation.
“She is so indifferent. Sarcastic in some way”, I said nonchalantly. I can't even believe it myself. I was almost speechless when I was with her. She has the ability to intimidate people.
“We seem wrong at some point” he stated. “I think Allen here is not cheating at all, you can say about their closeness.” he continued while watching the two ladies.
“Indeed”.
ALE’S POV
“Shi, by chance, do you know that man in a black shirt that is 45 degrees on your right?” I curiously asked.
Rising her brows at me as if I meant something, which, to my dismay, I looked like a love-struck teenager and a little more defensive as I tried to explain. I don’t know, I’ve never been like this before. I was supposed to hate him.
“Oh no... It’s not what you think”, gesturing my hands like an i***t. Wait, what? Am I rattling over things?
“Why? What was I supposed to think?” she asked, trying to suppress the escaping amusement or rather ironic voice.
“Never mind”, dropping the issue. I hate being in a hot seat. She simply shrugs, which is not her usual behavior. Knowing her, she will bug you until she is satisfied enough with what she needs. A kind of nosey. So I thought. She never minds a bet. But I was wrong.
As we watch Allen heading in their direction, referring to Dauis’s circle of friends. She kept on glancing in my direction and studied my reactions carefully.
She then nudges me…
“What?”
“I know something is off of you two? What is it?” she asks, winking at me maliciously.
“Oh my God Shiela, it’s nothing. It really is.” I said defensively while rolling my eyes at her, which made her laugh sexily. Oh, I wish I could laugh just like her, a touch of feminity, they say. Maybe that’s one thing Allen loves her. But how can I do that if I am constantly surrounded by masculine demi-gods? Thinking this way, I like to hit my own head, thinking about trash.
“Your eyes are twinkling dear.” she teases me more.
“And you are hallucinating.” I reiterated every word.
“Do I? Mind you, you can lie to the whole world, but not to me.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I even know that you are keeping something in your pocket. Which I guess only a few know. So, basically, you cannot keep a thing from me, my dear,” she said, sipping her drink before crossing her arms on her chest. Well, if you have a best friend like Shiela, you have got everything. It is an all-in-one package deal.
“You are pointing out something about that guy out there. How would I know? I never once admired a species opposite to ours. So you are overreacting.”
“Oh, sure!”
“Let’s drop this. It’s getting to my nerves.”
“It does? Well, I saw you talking to him and smiling sweetly while looking straight into his eyes. So there is really something going on between you two.”
“My God Shiela, my head is throbbing, yet you pounded me with this sh*t that something is going on you two.” I mocked her
“Do you have a plan on dropping this thing? Because if not, we might talk about this some other time.” I continued. Now I’m pissed again. Acting like a teenager hiding something under the table while being questioned by a mother. Now, I’m crazily blushing. Feeling humiliated. And ashamed. Oh… why do I have to feel this way? I shouldn’t be feeling this. Hey self, you are supposed to hate him. He has constantly bullied you back then. You suffered a lot. So f**koff.
“I guess you already knew him.”
“How can you say?”
“By observing you from afar. And guess what?”
“What?”
“He was ogling you all the time. As prey, you know. He was kind of hooked on your beauty, he couldn’t take away his eyes on you, and literally drolling.”
“Beauty yourself. Stop me with this non-sense Shiela, I'm warning you. He is pissing me with his arrogance, okay?”
“Or else what?” She asked, daring me. Because she knows I wouldn't dare do something bad to her.
“Oops… They are coming on our way” she said, turning her head to four men that approached our direction.
“Hey, close your mouth dear, they might think of something…”
With her words, I followed her gaze and realized I was gawking at them. Oh… what a shame.
He walks like a model, and handsome, ravishingly fanciable, alright. But, why do I care? I have seen a lot of them. Why do I mind anyway? I thought to myself.
“Hey! ladies” Allen. I don't know if I heard him, but I was so occupied with my thoughts that it took a few minutes for me to realize that everyone around me was looking at me intently. Shiela has been nudging me, but I seem to be in the other part of the world. Dumbfounded. Do I have a crush on him? Oh no. This should not be happening. How embarrassing. Being on the verge of embarrassment, you tend to wish the ground to open and swallow you completely.
Shiela later on steps on my foot to get my attention. I sneeze.
“Ahem, yes, you’re saying?”
“Hi, I'm Tristan. Allen’s friend.” He said, offering his hand for a handshake.
“Hi, I'm Ale, his sister”, Accept his hand and smile as sweetly as I can go. Feeling his big hands wrapped in mine sends a warm feeling. To my surprise, he never immediately let go. I saw Dauis's reaction in my peripheral view, his jaw moved and the look of his eyes was somewhat disapproving. Or jealous?
“I’m saying If you still remember the Suares brothers?” Allen interrupted, completely ignoring my initial reaction. And at Tristan's initiative, freeing my hands as Dauis, elbow him.
“Of course, how will I forget them?” I said, changing my expression instantly at the mention of their family names. Contemptuous. Arching my brows at Dauis.
“So you’re Ale?” he asked in bewilderment.
“I have not heard anything about you for a quiet time” he continued.
“I assumed you'd already met her?” Allen interrupted.
“Yes we did, he thought I was your other chick. So he came to me trying to get on my pants.” I answered while smirking at Dauis.
“You did? Man, don’t you dare. Or you will regret it for the rest of your life.” threatening him.
“Good thing that she isn’t. Who wouldn’t admire her, she is beautiful. Watching her from afar made me mesmerized by her beauty. But mind you, I changed my mind seeing her near because she acts masculinely, all my admiration had fled away--” he responded stoically. Shaking his head as if he was so disgusted at the idea.
“Who would want him either? Arrogant Faggot” We are basically throwing stones at each other, forgetting our colleagues around speechless and just staring at us alternately.
“You don’t know who you are talking to.”
“Do I need to know you? I have known you since you were young. If I remember it right, I was your favorite subject.”
“You’ve never forgotten?”
“NEVER EVEN ONCE,” I said, clearing every word with the intention of sending him the warning bells. I have to make it clear to him about the coming wrath.
I was disturbed by the constant ringing of my phone. I excuse myself. Distancing a little from them. And there, this name again.
“Hello?”
“Have you seen it?” A man asks from the other line.
“No.”
“Check it. And you are not alone in this. You are going to be with someone.”
“Who?”
“Just check his files. I already have it sent.”
“Okay”, turning off my phone and shove it in my pocket as I made my way back to them.
“I think I should head home,” I said, directing Allen and Shiela.
“Something’s wrong?” Allen asks worriedly.
“No, something’s up with my work. Nothing to worry about.” I assured him.
“Okay, so you are leaving then?” he is referring to if I go on travel.
“No, I guess I will be staying for a while, anyway. It can be done at home, so let's catch up some other time.”
“Okay. You take care” Shiela then hugged me.
“I’ll send you home,” says Allen, preparing his things.
“Oh no, don’t bother. I will be fine. Enjoy… Bye guys” waving to them as I slowly paced my way out. But Dauis grasped my wrist, stopping me.
“I will drive you home” he offered. Oh no. He is not offering, he’s literally informing me, and by the look of his eyes, he will not accept no for an answer.
“Thank you, but I’m fine, really, you don’t need to act like a real gentleman.”
“I insist. So if you know me enough, you already know that I won't take no for an answer. And that’s final.” ignoring my refusal.
“Who gives you the idea that I’m accepting the offer?”
“I’m not offering, I was informing you.”
“Hey--”
“Hey yourself, now let’s go.” pulling me by my wrist, I glance at Shiela and Allen expecting them to help me out. But no. They just wave goodbye, totally agreeing with the asshole. Instead, I made no move on refusing harder as I didn't want to create a further commotion. Though I’m so tempted to strangle him to death. How dare he.
