Though still hesitant as I will divulge my identity to him, I still have to do it, otherwise, I will attract attention in the future and arouse another problem it may have caused. Which I highly deem to dissipate.
He walked slowly near me while his gun was still aiming in my direction.
So, I dared not move after showing it to him.
He looked confused at the closer look though, so he had me handcuffed before he made a call.
“Hello? I’d like to speak to the head in charge of the investigation in the south suburban warehouse.”
(silence)
“Yeah, head Chief, I’d like to ask if you sent somebody from your Dep't to come to have her investigate.” He explained anxiously.
(......)
“Oh, he just illegally crossed the line.”
(....)
“ OK, copy that.”
Then he hugged up the call and turned in my direction.
Judging by his look, he was not quite pleased with the answer he got from the Dep't. He looked even displeased while unlocking my handcuffs.
“Okay, do as you need to do.” He later said, not even apologizing for his rude behavior.
He acted like a child ready to throw a tantrum anytime soon.
“Be sure not to be caught by anybody other than me, or you will be…” He called out and intentionally hung his remaining words by just showing the finger sign “F**k up”
Together, a neck cut sign.
I smirked at him in response, not wanting to waste my time on not-important matters.
Tapping his shoulder, I assured him and indirectly told him that ‘I GOT IT. Then,
I walked past him, stopped halfway and,
“You should know me by now, so I hope you will keep it as it is.” without turning my head to him, I spoke. A warning in a calm but dangerous way. Besides glancing back at him, I grinned.
I felt the utmost contentment at the smell of his fear as I sensed how my treacherous words made his flesh tremble.
It makes me completely satisfied knowing that my simple warning meant a lot to him, thus, he will never dare sabotage me.
I maliciously laughed at him and, as I saw, his face slowly left its color when he heard me laugh.
“Easy… I won't eat you alive.” I once again spoke. After that, I continued to walk into the deeper of the scene, not bothered by this person’s presence anymore.
Surveying the area well, I walked with cations. Carefully inspect every angle for any traces that may have been left.
After I walked from here to there and as I was finally convinced that they had it all cleared, I inhaled deeply before I dialed the “Boss” number for the report.
“The hell Dauis!” He sneered, cursing me immediately after he accepted the call.
I rolled my eyes at the disgust of this man’s dirty mouth, who only knew how to spit foul words.
He wasn’t even grateful to us, even in the successful times of our business. He has never ever been.
That’s “Boss Gus.”
A real-life subordinate of Satan. He possessed this very demonic attitude which I found interesting the moment Candy brought me and introduced me to him.
Candy’s relationship with him was still oblivious to me until now. I wondered why and how she became extremely submissive to him by carrying his orders justly.
Candy’s personality did not match, but when speaking of Boss Gus, she showed the very opposite one.
She literally became powerless when it came to him. However, these two show no mercy and exceptionally do monstrous things together, which makes them a perfect pair.
He had become his mentor and it was he who took Candy under his wings during her hardest time. Thus, these all made her rely on his care, as she had no one to look up to.
Her heart was completely covered with anger, retribution, and resentment. These were all the reasons for her existence as she described her life after losing her family.
And this is all that Boss Gus had taken advantage of.
He was her Godfather.
“I apologize for my incompetence, Boss.” I humbly responded to his anger.
“Huh! You are very incompetent!” He snapped.
“It was so reckless of me.”
“Yes, it was. What happened to you? You were supposed to be my most reliable son after Candy.”
“I'm sincerely asking for your forgiveness, Boss, it was never my intention and will never be.”
“Then who?”
Hearing how angry he was at the anticipation of traitors from our group, I almost lost my self-control and would probably laugh at him if I didn't hold back a little.
I always love these little games of ours.
Remember the corpse that was sent for investigation for identification and the one that was half dead who was sent to the hospital, which I believe is no longer a threat at all?
I assured him once again that everything was taken care of. Well, except for the ‘ shipment’.
Tilted my head at the memories of how I ended myself in this group and of my entanglement with them was my choice. But little did I know that I would be living in a real hell and have myself be burnt by the fire I was playing in all along.
