Jason asked me to tag along with he and Alvara as they drove around the territory, Jason pointing out to Alvara places he knew that Jessup had already placed shields. Like Alvara told him, she could easily have sensed the shields if we were on foot, but with us being in the truck, it was just easier for him to point them out to her. She told him she would come back on foot that afternoon and get started actually putting the shields out. She also explained that she had asked for a ride around because she generally found it easier to prepare everything she needed if she had physically seen the area.
