"Hey, long time on see"
Seth said to me as he made his way over already with a bottle of whiskey in hand. The guy knew me too well.
"I've been busy, but I could say the same for you."
I said.
Seth is a werewolf and part of my pack, but he has been running this pub on his own since his father died. He's gorgeous, not too tall and well-built. He hasn't found his mate yet, but that doesn't stop him from hooking up with any girl that is willing. He has the looks, so I guess that's a plus for him. I wonder what his mate would say when she found out he was a male w***e.
"Busy running the pack or getting married?"
He asked with a smirk
"Don't remind me, my father lost his f*****g mind. William? I'd die before that ever happened."
A customer called him over, and I nodded at him. I could take it from here. I hopped up onto the counter and made my way over to the other side of the bar. Sometimes, when I am being playful, I help him out... okay, let me rephrase that, sometimes when I am drunk, I pour my own wine while he takes care of his regulars.
Werewolves cannot get drunk. Our metabolism burns off the alcohol before it even has a chance to spread through our veins, so we lace it with wolfsbane... it's deadly to a werewolf, it makes you lose touch with your wolf and makes healing slow. But if you take just a bit of it, it makes you feel intoxicated... almost like putting your wolf to sleep for a few hours.
During that time, you have no connection with your wolf. I drop a few drops into the bottle and tuck it under my arm, fill my glass with ice and hop back over to the bar stool. The first sip burns as it makes its way down my throat and my wolf groans... she hates it when I indulge in fine whiskey, but right now I need a break from werewolf stuff.
"Drinking again, are we?"
Shiro my wolf asks.
But I didn't answer. I feel her slipping with the next shot and the next until I can no longer feel her anymore. I take this time to savy my surroundings. The pub is filled with vamps and werewolves, even a few humans... they are oblivious to the fact that we exist. Vampires and werewolves don't get along, but in this pub we are civil to say the least.
But that doesn't mean fights don't break out here sometimes... the bell above the pub's door chimes, indicating that another customer has entered the pub. I keep my eyes down. I am here to drink, not indulge in flesh on flesh... someone takes a seat next to me. They smell freshly showered. I peak over to my side and my breath hitches...
Mmm his a snack, one I wouldn't mind indulging in. I couldn't see his face though he was looking straight ahead at the different alcohols on the racks, as though deciding which drink he was going for. My mind tingles, an indication that someone is trying to mind link me. Good luck with that. It won't work, not after the wolfsbane.
"Your father called...
Seth tells me as he eyes the guy sitting next to me... his human and that's Seth's way of telling me my father had mind linked him.
"Did you tell him I was here?"
I asked
"Nope, told him I haven't seen you, but I guess you have a few minutes before he comes here looking for you."
I scoff, Seth is right. My father came looking for me here countless number of times, even when Seth told him I wasn't here.
The guy next to me glances my way and frowns. He probably thinks I have daddy issues. Well, I do kind of. I threw back a couple of shots, then shook the empty bottle at Seth...
"It's empty."
I whisper, giggle. Frown face snickers but don't say anything.
"I'll get you another."
Seth says and hands me another bottle after a few minutes.
"What's a pretty little thing like you doing sitting here all on your own?"
I turn half-way in my seat, ready to give him a piece of my mind, but frown face beats me to it.
"She's not alone, she's with me."
Now I am frowning... the guy looks between me and frown face.
"Do you mind if I joined? I kind of like to share."
He smiled a huge toothless smile, his missing two front teeth, and I burst out in laughter.
"Mmm I see, did you share your teeth too?"
I ask
He takes a threatening step closer... in my mind I am begging him to say something even without my wolf. I am still capable of protecting myself... he clearly was not happy with my comment, but frown face gets off his chair and steps closer to me, f*****g hell his a mammath of a man and his f*****g hot okay yes I am with him... toothless puts his hands up in surrender and steps back... I would to, this guy would squish him like a fly.
"Do you want to get out of here?"
Frown face asked after he turned to face me. I was taken off guard by his features.
Not a flaw in sight, his hair lay on his forehead and I had this urge to push it back or tug on it. My eyes travel down to his. It's gray, his nose is the perfect straight nose and his lips... sweet mother of all things holy. His top lip is thin, but the bottom one is suckable and pink. He smirks at me, clearly catching me checking him out.
"Na ah buddy, how do I know you won't kill me the moment I leave here with you?"
I ask.
"You don't, but you'll come anyway from the looks of it you're hiding from daddy what better way to hide from him?"
"By leaving with a stranger? sure."
I hear myself saying.
I should feel scared. I should refuse, tell him I am not that kind of girl, but I hop off the bar stool and salute Seth. He gives me a questioning look, but I only smile at him. As I walk, frown face places his hand on the small of my back and leads me out of the pub... to my death we go, I think to myself mockingly.
"So... tell me why your father is looking for you so badly?"
He questions, as we walk down the street.
"Is this your thing? Pick girls up from pubs that have daddy issues?"
He laughs and I feel all fuzzy inside.
"Nope, I actually just got back here after two years."
"Oh, where from?"
"It's your turn princess."
He says, looking at me sheepishly.
"Fine... he wants me to marry some old guy."
I tell him. For some reason, I feel comfortable talking about my s**t to a complete stranger. Maybe it is because I know that after tonight I'll never see him again.
"I see, I suffer from ADHD."
He said, like it's a bad thing. I liked that he didn't press for more information and I went along with him.
"I suffer from verbal diarrhea."
He bursts out laughing and that fuzzy feeling returns.
"Is that even a thing?"
"Nope, but it should be."
I whispered with a smile on my face.
"Has anyone ever told you how tiny you are?"
He smirks
"Tiny but deadly... Has anyone ever told you how huge you are? You couldn't even walk out of the pub without ducking your head down."
He laughs again.
I know what he is doing. He is trying to take my mind off things, and it is working. We stop in front of a house. It's cozy and small. He turns to me, then nods his head towards the house.
"Thank you for walking me home."
He whispers, hands buried in his pants pockets.
"Not so fast... you're missing something."
I whispered back
