Five hundred years ago, King Can Scorpio ascended as the most powerful pure-blood Lycan in existence. Though centuries have passed, he remains forever twenty-five—the age he was when destiny crowned him king. For hundreds of years, he has searched for the one person Fate promised him: his mate. But time after time, destiny remained silent.

Until the morning his wolf, Eskimo, becomes restless.

Drawn by an irresistible bond, Can discovers the impossible—his mate is Jesiree Creed, a fierce and beautiful seventeen-year-old Hybrid with extraordinary powers. Half wolf and half vampire, Jesiree is unlike anyone Can has ever known. Strong-willed, fearless, and gifted with abilities that could change the balance of power, she is destined for far more than either of them realizes.

But Fate’s gift comes with a deadly price.

Dionne, Can’s possessive former lover, refuses to accept that the Lycan King belongs to another. Consumed by jealousy, she will stop at nothing to reclaim him—even if it means joining forces with Can’s greatest enemies to destroy Jesiree.

As war brews and hidden enemies emerge from the shadows, Can and Jesiree must fight not only for their love but for the survival of the kingdom itself. Ancient secrets will be revealed, betrayals will cut deep, and an old threat once believed defeated may rise again to claim everything Can holds dear.

Can the Lycan King protect his fated mate, or will destiny lead them down separate paths? And when darkness closes in, will Jesiree prove to be the one person powerful enough to stand beside him and save them all?

In a world where love, loyalty, and power collide, Fate may have chosen them—but only they can decide if their bond is strong enough to survive.

Chapter 1
I woke up wrapped around Dionne Block, my girlfriend of two years. I care about her in my own way. I have never mentioned the word love to anyone. But I can’t mark or mate with her because she isn’t my true mate. I’m a Lycan, and it’s forbidden for me to mate with another woman that wasn’t designed for me. Even if my mate is dead or dies after I have found her, I can’t have another mate. A Lycan only gets one person designed for them. Dionne thought that because I was a King, I could go against the rules regarding mating. Not even I can do that. As much as I enjoy spending time with Dionne, I only want my mate. My mate is the only one that I want. She’s also the only one who can satisfy me and complete me. Dionne is okay, but she does have a side that I don’t like. Can unwrap himself from around her, get out of bed, and look at Dionne again before walking into the bathroom. He looks in the mirror. “I can’t believe I haven’t found my mate. Damn, not bad looking for a 500-year-old man." Can Scorpio ascend when he was twenty-five years old. He is the Lycan King of the Kastron Dynasty in Leinster, Ireland. Can travel a couple of times a year to search for his mate. He has even traveled to the United States and other countries. He’s at the point where he believes his mate is dead. Eskimo, his wolf, refuses to accept that their mate is dead and has sworn he will never stop looking for her. He walks downstairs without bothering to wake Dionne up. He’s met by Burak, his Beta and best friend. “There are three new Alphas that have settled here. I thought that we should visit their packs.” Burak lowers his head a little, hoping his friend will agree. “Not today,” Can shakes his head, looking at Miray walking into the room. She's Burak’s mate, holding her and their daughter, Alev. He’s happy that his friend found his mate and has a family. That is the only thing he envies everyone about. That is having a mate and a family. Something that he wants more than anything. “Man, you can’t keep going on like this. Sooner or later, you're going to get tired of that temporary fix. What if your mate is in one of those packs?” Burak takes Alev from his mate. Can shake his head. “s**t, man, I’m beginning to wonder if the Moon Goddess designed a mate for me. You and Sarp have mates and a family. Efe has even found his mate." “I totally understand. But your mate is out there, and we can’t give up looking for her. Who knows, she might be feeling the same way, and she’s looking for you. You can’t keep dating Dionne forever. Her mate will show up one day. Even if she could give you a pup, she's not worthy of you.” Burak tickles his daughter. Alev is laughing loudly. “Yeah, I know. Update me on the prisoners.” Can looks out the window in the direction of the dungeon. “They’re ready for you.” Burak looks to the top of the stairs and frowns, looking at Dionne standing there listening to their conversation. Can is walking out the door. “Maybe torturing some worthless rogues will ease my mind and calm Eskimo. His ass is angry because I decided not to travel around the f*****g world again." Dionne rolls her eyes at Burak. She has never liked him or Sarp. Sarp is Can’s Second in Command. The two men know that she isn’t going to leave so easily when the King finds his mate. Dionne threatens every she-wolf that has her eyes on Can. Some women have grown tired of Dionne's threats and physical abuse and have left the kingdom. She stops asking him to mark her when he told her he couldn't go against the Moon Goddess's laws, just as his members can’t go against his laws. “Damn, I wish I could eliminate that damn Burak and Sarp. I can’t let them tell Can about my behavior toward those bitches." **** Can is sticking a silver stake in a rogue's chest in the dungeon. He hates the nasty rogues, especially when they trespass and end up in his kingdom. He wants the man to tell him why he and the others were caught on his property. The rogues tell him they were only passing through, but Can doesn’t believe them, just as he didn’t believe the other six rogues whose necks he just broke. “Now tell me the truth. Who sent you here?” The rogue could barely raise his head. “No one sent us. Kill me and get it over with.” "As you wish." Can threw a hot silver stake into the rogue’s neck. Sarp and Burak knew that regardless of what the rogue told them, Can would kill him. Their friend is known to be called the most ruthless man in the world, and he has earned the name honestly. “Okay, I will go to the packs, but after training. I need to work off some more frustration.” Can doesn’t look at the man he just killed or the other six men he killed earlier. He walks out of the dungeon. The warriors are already training, but when they see the King coming their way, they start to train harder. They didn’t want to feel his wrath. Can doesn’t accept anyone wasting time and slacking. He has killed a few of his warriors for complaining about the intense training. Efe, the number one warrior, is also Can’s brother. He ascended when he was twenty-two and found his mate, Isla, a month ago. Can walks beside his brother. “So far, I like what I’m seeing. I want them ready. I feel a storm is brewing our way. Any weak warrior needs to work harder, and I do mean harder. Divide the men and the women. I want to see them first, then the men. We can’t allow any weak-ass people to fight in a battle. “He’s looking around. “Where is Dionne?” Efe laughs. “Your girlfriend doesn’t train. She said that she has it like that. As a matter of fact, she only comes when she knows you’re inspecting. “Oh, really. We'll see about that.” Can is breathing hard as he’s communicating with someone. Efa does as his brother says. A few minutes later, he sees Dionne running to the training field. She walks into the last row, cutting her eyes at Can and thinking. How dare he force me to train with these assholes? I’m his damn girlfriend. I dare him to throw me in the dungeon.” “If Dionne misses another session, lock her ass in the dungeon. Regardless of what she says. Don’t bother me with it.” Can looks at her and shakes his head. “Yes, sir,” Efa smirks and glances at her. Burak walks over to Can. "We have some damn good women fighters. Are you ready to go?” Can's arms are folded as he’s watching each female warrior. ” Yes, we do.” He looks at Dionne. “How in the hell did she think she could be my mate when her ass can’t fight? Pitiful, just pitiful. Maybe we should go tomorrow instead." “I have already contacted the Alphas, and they are expecting us. We can use some time away from this and that.” Burak frowned, looking at Dionne. He cut his eyes at Sarp. Sarp shook his head. “A lot of time away from that. Damn, I sure am glad she isn’t our Queen. If she were, our asses would be in deep s**t. Hell, we all would be dead waiting on her to protect us.” Can rubs his chin, looking at Dionne stumbling over her feet. He walks toward the house. Efe, Burak, and Sarp are still looking at Dionne. Burak starts walking behind Can. “Please let us find Can’s mate soon. I mean today.” ***** Can showers and is dressed in a pair of black jeans, a black T-shirt, and a black jacket. He’s about to leave his bedroom when Dionne walks in from training. She tries to wrap her arms around him. But he pulls away from her. “Do you think I don’t know what you’re trying to accomplish? If I find my mate, she will smell your scent on me. I have warned you about doing those foolish tricks. I have told you not to touch me without my permission. Dionne, you should remember you are a member and must follow all my rules. If not, suffer the consequences. Why are you in my bedroom anyway?” “I thought we could take a shower together.” She bats her eyes and sways her hips. “No, that’s not happening today. Go to your room in the packhouse and shower. I‘m on my way out.“ He points to the door. “When will you be back? What about dinner? Can we eat together?” She’s walking in front of him. Can is looking at Efe walking toward them. “Make sure she’s out of here. As for dinner. Not tonight. Do not come to this house this evening. I want to be alone.” He walks down the stairs without looking at her. She’s staring at him. Efe touches her arm. “You heard the King. Move it” “Don't touch me. I’m leaving.” Dionne rolls her eyes. **** “One of these days, his ass will want me, and I’ll be gone. Hell, girl, who are you kidding? Your ass will be right here.” Dionne walked into her bedroom in the packhouse. She thought that by now, Can would have moved her into his bedroom. But he shoots the idea down every time she brings it up. Last week, when she brought the subject up, he warned her they would be done if she brought it up again. Some young ladies laugh at her for having a relationship with the King. Every three months, he announces that he hasn’t found his mate yet and is still searching for her. This always makes Dionne furious and feel like a fool. She doesn’t love Can, but she wants to be the Lycan King’s Queen and will do anything and hurt anyone who gets in her way. Someone knocks on her door and opens it at the same time. A petite brunette walks into the room. “I figured you would be here. I just heard the King went out to visit the new packs. I take it he’s looking for his mate. Are you okay?” “Yep,’ Dionne is taking her clothes off. “He won’t find her. Hell, as old as his ass is, his mate is dead or mated to someone else.” The girl shook her head. “I don’t know, Dionne. What if he finds his mate? What are you going to do then?” “Kill the bitch.” Dionne walks into the bathroom and closes the door. “My sister has lost her damn mind. Keep underestimating the King and end up dead.” Bria mumbles. ***** Alpha Taranis Creed and his Luna are having breakfast in his office. He keeps looking at the door. Giselle chuckles. “Your sister isn’t here. She went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, but she should return soon. Stop worrying so much about Jesiree. She can take care of herself." He chuckles. “Yes, she can. But I’ll always worry about her ass. I promise our parents that I will protect her.” “Protect her,” Giselle laughs, picks the tray of dishes up, and looks at the door. “See, here she is now and is in one piece. I’ll leave you two alone.” Jesiree kisses her brother. “Good morning. Were you worried about me?” “Always. What happened to the little quiet little sister I once had? You know, the one that was glued to me 24/7. “Taranis gives her his glass of milk. “Drink it.” She drinks the milk. “I grew up, and I’m sorry I made you worry. It’s beautiful here. What took you so long to move us here?” He walks behind his desk. “I had to wait for my baby sister to graduate high school. Have you decided whether to attend college in the fall or continue your online studies?” “Online classes. I don’t want to be cooped up in a classroom. Besides, I want to spend more time training the pack. Just because it’s beautiful here doesn’t mean that there aren’t any assholes lurking around. We need to make sure the warriors are on top of things.” She walks over to her brother’s desk and sits on it. “Now, are you ready to tell me the real reason why we moved here?” Taranis sits back in his chair. “I've always wanted to live here. Since our father and both of our mothers are dead, I thought you, me, and Giselle could use a different scenery and a fresh start.” She looks at him, concerned. “I agree, and I’m enjoying the scenery so far. I’m glad my mother was our father's second chance at love. If not, I wouldn’t have a wonderful big brother.” He chuckles. “I remember when father told me he found his second chance mate, as if I knew what he was talking about. All I understood was that she was a vampire. When our mother walked in, all I could think of was where herfangs weres. She noticed that I was looking at her. So, she asked me what was wrong. I blurted out I want to see your fangs. Our father dropped his head. But mother extended them. I thought that was the coolest thing. f*****g rogues. Damn,” Taranis hits his desk. Jesiree hugs him,” I know I miss them too. This is our new beginning, remember. So cheer up. You’re going to be a father any day now.” “s**t, I had forgotten we have some visitors today. He's looking for his mate. So be nice and don’t kill anyone,” He points at her. Jesiree stands up and walks to the door. “I can’t promise you that. But if he or whoever is with him doesn’t mess with me, I won’t mess with them. That’s why I’m going to train.” “Don’t hurt any members," Taranis yells and shakes his head. “What am I going to do with her?”
