Damien’s POV Ofelia stood in my office doorway with fire in her eyes. For one long moment, neither of us spoke. Her gaze flicked from my face to the trash bin beside my desk, then back to me again. She knew. Of course she knew. Ofelia was not stupid. She might have been new to my world, but she could read me better than I wanted her to. “You threw them away,” she said quietly. I leaned back in my chair, keeping my expression calm. “They were distracting.” Her lips parted slightly in disbelief. “They were flowers.” “From a client.” “They were a thank-you gift.” “He asked you to dinner.” “And I didn’t say yes.” The room went silent. That should have ended the discussion. She was right. She had not encouraged Richard. She had not accepted his invitation. She had done nothing wrong.
