Ofelia’s POV After receiving my ridiculous “first strike,” I spent the entire morning trying not to murder Damien. I handled call after call, updated his impossible schedule, answered dozens of emails, and organized mountains of paperwork. He remained cold and demanding, barking short orders without even looking at me most of the time. Every time I glanced at him across the desk, the realization from earlier kept replaying in my head. He might be jealous. The thought refused to leave me alone. Why would my mother’s husband be jealous of me talking to another man? It didn’t make sense. None of this made sense. The air in his office felt thicker than usual, charged with something I couldn’t name. I kept my eyes on my screen, fingers flying over the keyboard, but my mind wandered. Damien Vo
