That's none of your business, Lyra,” Harrison warned, changing his golden wristwatch to a diamond one.
Immediately, Lyra inputted her signature, Harrison yanked it and inserted it in a brown envelope. “Good job,” A grin appeared on Harrison's face and he called, “Adrian.”
Adrian walked in within seconds, he slightly bent his head awaiting Harrison's commandment.
“Keep an eye on her,” Harrison instructed, walking out of the room. Things are working out as he planned.
Lyra watched him walk away with a grin plastered on his face. She wanted to end the marriage right there but Elsa's ailment changed her mind. She has to dance to the tunes of that arrogant CEO, Harrison Monroe.
“Will you keep your eyes off me?” she asked Adrian who kept staring at her. Adrian didn't change positions, his eyes were glued to her, and his hands were clasped behind his body.
Lyra shot him at a disgusted glance. “Don't you understand a th..” she paused, glimpsing the teeth mark at Adrian's neck region.
“Blood,” she shouted, standing on her feet. Her hand stretched to touch Adrian's wounded neck.
Adrian nudged her to stay away, “Keep your distance, Ma'am.”
The crease between her brows deepened as she leaned forward.“Why don't you allow me to help you? I inflicted the pain on you,” she said.
Adrian rolled his eyes and sighed, “Ugh! You are more annoying than I thought.”
“Pardon?” Lyra crossed her arms.
“I would be outside,” Adrian said.
“This is worse than babysitting,” Adrian's eyes crossed in exasperation as walked out, shutting the door behind him.
Lyra felt insulted at his harsh words.
“Yeah, you better walk away,” she shouted.
After Adrain's exit, Lyra felt free. She stood up and spread her arms in the air while spinning. “Now, there's hope. Mum would finally get treated,” A smile beamed on her face.
Delighted to share the news with her mother, she grabbed her phone. As soon as she picked up her phone a call came through.
“My love- Liam," she read out the caller's name with a huffy sigh.
“It’s time I block his number," Lyra considered, pressing her lips tightly.
Lyra's heart was still bruised, letting go of her childhood friend and fiance was a bit difficult. Lyra didn't want to say goodbye but she had to. Her watery eyes looked up as she tried to hang up.
Her fingers slipped and mistakenly tapped the wrong side which received the call.
“You dumbass, you had the guts to cheat on me after everything I did for us,” Liam's voice resounded through the phone.
Liam's heavy breathing was audible over the phone as he awaited Lyra's response. In his arms were magazines about Harrrison's arranged marriage and his exchanged bride.
Lyra took in a deep breath to calm the raging monster in her. “Did you call to apologize or insult me?” Lyra cooed, she made sure her voice didn't break and expose her bruised heart.
Liam's brows beetled with a frown. “What? You should be ashamed of snatching Piper's arranged husband.” Liam shouted.
“You have just thirty minutes to come over else this relationship will be put to an end,” Liam threatened.
Lyra forced a chuckle, “I don't f*****g care about that relationship, it ended hours ago. Mark my words, it's over!”
Her words caught Liam by surprise, he had to check the caller's name again to be sure it was Lyra who replied in such a tone.
Lyra's lips quivered, and tears started rolling from her eyes unchecked. She instantly ended the call so Liam wouldn't notice how hurt she was.
“Jerk,” she sobbed.
Lyra swayed her hand on her face, wiping off the tears that poured from her stinging eyes.
“No more tears,” she said under her breath.
A forced smile spread across her face as she tried calling Piper's phone. After Piper ran away, no one has heard from her.
This made Lyra worried, she dialed Piper's number severally but it was unreachable. Lyra's shoulders sloped as she paced back and forth, expecting a call from Piper.
Her phone oozed a ringtone. She hurriedly took a look at the caller's name.
A smile beamed on her face. It was her mum, Elsa. Lyra immediately picked up the call, “Mum, I have great news.”
“Hello, is this Lyra Hart?” a voice said over the phone. Lyra's brows creased. It wasn't Elsa's voice and the voice was very unfamiliar.
“Yes, what are you doing with my mum's phone?” Lyra replied,
“Mrs Elsa slumped, she was admitted to the hospital.”
Lyra's heartbeat ceased for a minute and it was like time paused before her eyes.
Her phone slipped from her hand and the caller yelled the name of the hospital, “ Shk hospital.”
“Hello, are you there?” the caller yelled.
Lyra stood still like a sculpture.
Finally, she caught her breath and ran towards the door.
She twisted the door knob severally but it refused to open. The door was locked from behind.
“My mum! Mummy,” Lyra's eyes were filled with tears as she banged her fist against the locked door. “Get me out of here,” she yelled, stinging tears falling from her eyes unchecked.
Due to the consistent bang at the door, Adrian went to check up on her. Immediately he unlocked the door with the key, Lyra stormed out and pushed him aside.
“Gosh, I should have known it was an escape plan,” Adrian thought. He ran as fast as he could and luckily he grabbed her by the arm.
“Let me go,” Lyra shouted with tears flowing from her eyes.
“No,” Adrian effortlessly carried her on his shoulder. “My mother is in the hospital, she needs me. Shk hospital!!” Lyra yelled.
Lyra got tossed into the room. “Don't be bothered, Mr. Harrison will take care of everything,” Adrian assured and locked her back in the room.
Adrian hurriedly phoned the Shk hospital manager. He had connections with every organization, it was an easy thing to get an organization number.
“A VVIP has just been admitted to your hospital. Elsa Hart must be provided with proper medical care," Adrian said, holding his phone close to his ear.
He hung up the call immediately after the ran wild so he decided to take a look at her. He slightly opened the door.
“Hello?” he swung his restless gaze in search of Lyra.
Adrian detected her absence and rashly barged in, the cool breeze from the window side swept his hair to a side.
He turned around, his gaze wrenched at the opened window and some sheets tied to each other which served as a long rope.
“Oh no, she escaped. Mr. Harrison will deal with me,” Adrian groaned. He ran out of the room to alert security about the bride's disappearance through his walk-talky.
Shortly after Adrain's left, the closet door flung open. Lyra gently marched out with her phone in her hand.
