“This changes everything,”
Vera’s words echoed across the room,
Of course, it did. When I had decided to marry Damien, I had not expected to almost get murdered the first time he saw me.
“Yeah, no kidding.” I muttered, “Your alpha just tried to choke me to death.”
The words came out of my lips in a harsher tone than I had expected, but they were true.
Even right now, minutes after Damien had once again fallen into a deep sleep, my hands were still trembling.
Every single time I blinked, I saw him again. And I recalled what he had done — the sharp glow of his silver eyes, the raw fury that burned, and the way his hands had tightened like he was going to crush the life out of me.
All of these were experiences that had forever been burned within my psyche.
