When his disappointing eldest son, George, had complained about Evelyn messing around with Julian, Charles had flat-out refused to believe it.
He just assumed George was picking on Evelyn again and scolded him on the spot.
But tonight, at this important event, his precious granddaughter had waltzed in with Julian like it was the most normal thing in the world.
